Canon 1D X official

Anyone else go to Pro Solutions?

the 1Dx was there, wasn't allowed to put my memory card in, but it is a beast

Yeah, it's an impressive camera in the hand but tells you nothing really in that scenario. Lots of toys if you're into that sort of thing, they had a few S100s there too

I'd LOVE one of these, yet the price is just too much to justify sadly. The framerate would make wildlife shots of birds an absolute breeze. Might look at a second hand 1d IV though when I decide to upgrade.

Woof! 41 cross point af with 5 dual cross point af in the centre? I have one cross point AF spot lol. You could just swing it around in the air holding the shutter button down and take better shots than I could with my little piece of plastic :p

On a serious note though, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel walking around with £6k dangling from my neck (plus lens!).

Forgot the cash, I'm not sure how I'd feel with all that weight around my neck!!

If you don't need the FPS, the 5D3 is a good alternative.

They use almost the same AF system, looking through the viewfinder you are presented with enough squares to play scrabble with!

The 1DX is good, worth it if you NEED it's features but mere mortals and dare i say, most professionals can more than get by with what the 5D3 offers.

I worry about the weather proofing on the 5D line though, even the mk iii. There is sod all information when it comes to how good it actually is. I've had my mk ii out in light rain and its fine, yet I wouldn't want to risk it in heavier downpours. The D800 can have pints of water literally thrown at it and still works perfectly lol. Thats the sort of weather sealing I crave, yet moving to nikon from canon would cost me a small fortune, not far off the same price of the 1DX due to the lenses I require and currently own. If the mk iii can handle the same amount of water as the D800, I'd definitely buy one in a heartbeat!
