Canon 1D X official

If I sell both my 5D i am still short :(

This thing is expensive !

Then again, buy one of these means the tax man gets less of my money :D

phone cameras and entry level consumer DSLRs are aimed at consumers that walk into a shop and ask the assistant for what to buy.

They look at the big numbers and buy the one that shouts loudest to them about more mega pixels because it gives them something easy to understand thats different between them.

Granted you do get consumers who understand ISO performance who buy entry level DSLRs, but its not their core market

Just walk into any family attraction like Legoland and see the number of parents shooting DSLRs into auto mode with the kit lens to get an idea of what i'm on about.

Although....wide guess/pie in the sky dream.

If merge between the 1D to 1Ds into 1Dx signals a streamlining of their product line. Which means going a more Nikon route with the D3s/D3/D700, then it is possible that the next 5D could have the same AF.

However, that is a BIG change and it is the opposite of what they have been doing for the past decade.

As for the 61 AF going down below xD bodies...i doubt it, not a hope in hell chance actually.
 
I will need to pull out £5k out of my backside....don't think i can in 2012.

It is a LOT of money, even as a business you got to think if you will and how long before you make it back. Will hold off and see what the 5DIII brings first before making any purchases.
 
If a 5Diii uses the same chip, and has the same AF point positioning as the 7D, then I can't really see why it wouldn't be just as good for portrait/weddings. The only thing I would miss personally, is the dual card slot's, as it would be good to constantly have a backup.
 
I'd love one. No way I could ever justify an outlay like that on a camera, no matter how nice it is. Well, unless a family member pops their clogs and leaves me a wheelbarrow full of cash :D

5DmkIII WILL be my 2012 treat (or more likely 2012-2014 treat :D) with a lens and flash. Then I'll stick it in a cupboard for a year and play my guitar. I have a short attention spa

It's a good spec, and at least the Digic 5 will be everywhere shortly...which can only mean good things
 
So tempting, I've alwasy wanted a 1D. I'd purchase in a heartbeat if it was 5k or under. But 6k+ is a little steep, the missus would go mad at me..

5D Mk3 will surely be something along the lines of DigiC5 processor (Not +) and maybe 5FPS. Perhaps with a slightly smaller AF count.
 
i see the 5DIII with dual digic5+ processors but it will still have a high MP count (maybe even the same as 5DII), low frame rate. as for AF maybe on a par with the 7D:confused:
