Just to play devils advocate let's say you're shooting at 1/400th. Even at 8 FPS that's only a total of 1/50th of a second the shutters open, 49/50th's it's closed. Not great odds edit: for getting exactly the shot you wanted

true, true, but it's nearly twice as fast as the 20D (8.7 vs 5) so gives me a lot more freedom I've used both, and it feels immensely quicker. In fact, difficult at first NOT to take two pictures when trying to take one in burst

Only taken a few shots so far so not really got any decent samples... here are a couple I have taken to checkout the extremes, both link to FULL SIZE, 4mb Jpegs, no processing at all.

Canon 100-400L@100, F5.0, ISO 1600, 1/40th, low light. Focus not perfect.

Neat image cleans this up very well into a useable image

Canon 50, F1.8, ISO 100, 1/8000th, Quite Bright Sunlight.
