That is truly dreadful.

Wow thank god for the new camera because that shot would not have been possible with a canon 1000D!

who are they trying to trick?

the camera is a 3000 pound camera aimed at serious hobbiest/pros who know there **** and dont get tricked into such **** poor marketing/advertisement.

What made me laugh more is that this is indeed a freaking official Canon Aus advert!

Shocking!

anyone spending 3k on a camera dont need marketing whatsoever. just a spec sheet and a review test, thats it

Canon and Nikon get a fair few sales form richer middle-aged middle-class men with plenty of cash but without a clue about cameras. As you say, they don't need to bother marketing to the professionals much because pros and serious hobbyists know more about the camera than Canon's marketing team. Canon/Nikon are after people who will lay down 3K for a camera and add a 24-70mm + 70-200mm on top without any idea what they are buying into.

Yeah it's so bad it's laughable. "my guys are so worried right now, but they don't know I have this new camera!" :D

The comments section is the best bit.

"So none of you guys hanging around could attach quick disconnect plate on lens collar tripod mount?"

"Why would you mount your camera body on a tripod while using a massive heavy lens, instead of using the collar specifically designed for this?!!!. PLEASE some one explain this guy that the collar of the 70-200 is not just a good looking accessory. Oh wait!, stupid me!... maybe they are promoting an improved and reinforced bayonet-mount on this new camera"

"I'm sure he would use lens collar if he paid $3899.00 for 5DsR and $2199. for lens."

I dont think that photographer knows what the hell his doing?

edit:

"'ve concluded that Canon's market research is done by a 14 year old, high on weed, throwing darts at a whiteboard with scribbles on it that say, "More megapixels", "Dynamic range is for morons", "put a wi-fi in it!", "Make another joint"."

It's usually Leica that attract the dentists and doctors who keep shelf queen cameras.

Why would a Landscape or Studio photographer need a fast buffer? Answer - they don't, so it's not a problem :)

Where is the distortion in that video?

plenty of examples on why in a studio you may need a decent buffer. the fact is this. you can barely take 2 shots on this camera mate, that is poor. Studio usage dont expect 100 shots buffer! But two is taking the ****.

And what video? You mean the pic example at 11mm. plenty of distortion.

Did you watch the video with sound on as Matt clearly says there is distortion for all who wasn't paying attention

People and objects will show distortion when they are very close to the lens or at the edges of the frame. It's a feature which cannot be avoided.

Seems enough to me
The maximum burst rate of the EOS 5DS and 5DS R is 14 RAW files or 510 JPEGs at 5 frames per second using a UDMA 7 card.

so what is this bloke moaning about it being so slow at only 2 shots only?

Surely the slowest CF card vs the fastest card does not have such a hige speed difference or maybe so?

He says in the video he's only using a 400x card plus it was more than 2 shots if you listen to what he says.

UDMA 7 cards are twice as fast (800x).

Card write speed is probably the biggest factor with regards to the number of images you can shoot in succession, without the camera internal buffer becoming the bottleneck.
The camera needs to clear it's internal buffer quickly and so the card with the fastest write speed allows more shots to be taken without lag.

It is still half the amount of the Nikon D810 though which does 28 14bit RAWs and 47 12bit RAWs at 5FPS.
