Can't decide: 55" - B7 OLED or Sony X905

As per title, I can't decide between the two, £2k is max spend on the TV and I'm not even sure I need to be spending that much, 55" is max size.

TV will be hooked up to a 2TB Sky Q box and I'll have access to other 4k material via Netflix and Amazon. Truth is though, 90% of the TV use will be Eastenders etc, probably in SD as The Boss can't even be bothered to find the HD channels.

However, when I do watch a film/sport I want it to be as immersive as it can be. Been a Sony fanboi for years now, never let me down. Brain says OLED though, but can't quite get past spending almost £2k on an LG product, never used the brand before.

Please help me decide!
 
OLED, better than LCD in pretty much every way that counts, bar absolute peak brightness. If you're coming from a Plasma then it's the logical upgrade. I don't think LG are regarded as a low end brand? They make a variety of decent products across the tech world. I absolutely love my 55B6 and will never buy another TV that was not OLED or some variant of it.
 
I had a 55" 4K Sony LCD (bought Oct 16) that I've just swapped to an LG B7 and the picture finally reminds me of my old plasma, whether it's quite worth the price difference I'm not really sure, but you only live once....
 
LG are certainly not low end, iirc they produce all of the panels for the OLED's you find in UK stores at the moment including Sony and Panasonic.
 
took the wife to look at a tv for around 1k and came home with a oled b7 as she was so impressed says it all really.

That's one of the things swinging it for me, it's one of the only sets The Boss has seen and said "that one looks alright".
 
it's amazing how many people have zero clue about brands. LG make the best TV's. it's like saying I don't want the best product because i've never heard of them or they weren't as big as my preferred brand back in the day. Sony also had a patch of about 10-15 years where all their products were terrible for the money yet people still bought them because it said Sony on it.

It's like people who buy Jaguar's even though they are crap now and have been for 30 years.

That patch wouldn't have been in the mid to late 90's, early 2000's would it? I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Sony F1 Range way back in 1997 had no end of faults, yet they were one of the most expensive tellies on the market at the time. Yet I managed to sell a fair few of them back then because of the Name.

i can't remember the exact years but their tellies only got good again about 3-4 years ago. so would have been 1998 to 2013 roughly or 1997 to 2012. they had the odd good tv but most of them were crap compared to first of all pioneer, then panasonic then samsung. then they had 1-2 good years when they made the best tv's around 2013-2014 but now are good but not the best.
 
Curve ball. Wandered into Richer sounds today to see a B7 sitting next to a Panasonic TX55. Think I preferred the Panasonic. Both looked very good comparing the same source, but the Panasonic just seemed a bit smoother. Prefer the black frame too. Dilemma.
 
Which model? TX is before most Panasonic Tv's.

I know it sounds counter intuitive but I wouldn't go by store demos.

They tend to be in rooms that are nothing like an actual living room, particularly in terms of ambient light.

LEDs tend to stand out more in brightly lit rooms, as they have higher brightness levels but at home OLED wins hands down.
