Capital One Cup Semi-Final - 8/9/22/23 January *** Spoilers ***

When I saw it, it looked -very- much like the kid was slowing down play, which does happen, before Hazard tries to grab ball off him then resorts to shoving him to the ground. He had a hand on his back and was obviously pushing down. When he's lying on the ball as he fell on it, he gets kicked in the ribs quite powerfully. That wasn't a "poke", that was a kick and if an athlete who trains every day to kick a ball as hard as he can and as accurately as possible kicks you, that's going to hurt a lot more than a normal person. There is no way he could have reached the ball. He deserved a red card and anyone thinking otherwise is kidding themselves, that's assault and hopefully Hazard gets a similar punishment to Cantona.

How you can defend this is beyond me, honestly.

Clearly you were watching something different to me. The kid made a meal of a player trying to get a ball off him.

He was trying to slow down play, which, whilst I disapprove of, does not mean it's alright to shove him too the floor and kick him. He didn't make a meal of it, and though his actions were at fault too, he didn't shove Hazard too the floor afterwards and kick him. He was crying because he was in pain, but obviously a trained athlete kicking someone doesn't hurt at all and he was acting.

I don't see how discovering his twitter feed changes things.

Home team ball boy slowing down play? Really? Is that so controversial? I suppose he deserved a kick in the ribs. Next time kick him in the head

The issue wasn't the time wasting (although I agree he should be spoken to), the issue was the total over-reaction from Hazard at such a trivial bit of the game.

I don't condone Hazard kicking the kid but I do believe he was trying to get the ball from under him, if any of you ever play football there are times when the opposition can find themselves on top of the ball and instinctively you try and kick it from under them.

Obviously everyone who hates Chelsea is going to swing for Hazard and think the worst including the media.

I would understand why someone might want to kick a racist or an ********, but you just can't go and do it. Cantona was punished because assault is bad mmkay.

Yeah thats what im saying people defending Hazard for kicking the ballboy, who was being a bit of a dick, but didnt deserve to be kicked.

He didn't hit the ball. That's the problem, nor was this the only fault he did with the ball boy, also shoving him to the ground.

You have to be trolling...

The player's first mistake was putting his hands on the boy, standing over him and kicking at the ball beneath him was just the icing on the cake. It's assault, clear as day!

It's no wonder they get away with speeding, rape, assault, racism etc.. with morons like you defending them.

Not at all. He didn't kick him! This kid clearly has a great footballing career ahead of him with his skills.

Get your facts straight before you call me names.

He got the ball for sure, but he did so by sticking the boot in to the kids ribs.

As with these things, each camera angle conveys a different take. He didn't need to kick that ball which is the issue!

This thread is rather embarrassing all around, "but the ball was on the other side", boo hoo, he was on all fours most of the time then made the effort to put himself between the player and the ball, there was no reason to think, from above Hazard could easily see he'd rolled over. Anyone saying he "kicked a kid" is implying he intended to kick the kid and not the ball which seems like willyfully interpreting things in the stupidest possible way to have a laugh at Chelsea IMHO.

He kicked him hard and because he's a pro footballer/athlete that could have hurt. Firstly a 12 year old kicking another kid with full force could ruddy hurt, and its clear as day that he didn't try and kick him intentionally, nor did he kick him hard.

The kid was being a douche, sure Hazard should have picked him up and thrown him out the way, instead he chose to kick the ball out from underneath a person, something footballers do most weekends, in training in general in life. THe kid shouldn't have been on the floor and shouldn't have been preventing Hazard getting to the ball in any way shape or form, the fact that he rolled between the ball and Hazard on purpose to stop him getting to the ball is the only reason Hazard got any of the kid and not only the ball.

I don't know if people can remember anatomy, maybe everyone here is so fat they haven't seen their feet in ages, here's a hint, your foot sticks out further than your leg, theres nothing to suggest he tried to follow through, the fact that the kid didn't get pushed to the side AT ALL suggests exactly how much power(or lack of) there was in that "kick".

Was Hazard an idiot for going that far, sure, was there any intent to hurt the kid, no. When Cantona kicked the fan was he trying to save him from a fly and accidentally caught the fan, no, he intentionally tried to hurt the fan, Hazard didn't intentionally kick the kid, nor did he try to intentionally hurt the kid, he tried to intentionally get the ball back, nothing more or less.

The ref is an idiot and the FA SHOULD overturn it, why, because if they don't what happens at 50 football grounds next week when the ball goes out of play and the home team is winning........ every kid in the country dives on the ball and hangs on for dear life ;)
