Capital One Cup Semi-Final ** Spoilers ** [5/6/26/27th January 2016]

I would be amazed if everton can keep hold of Lukaku, Barkeley and Stones beyond this season.

Will be an interesting 2nd game at City, Everton should have got a 3rd, they were there for the taking. Still a good result though, Lukaku can't stop scoring, he's having a great season.

Is Barkley classed at a number 10? Who would go for him? City have 3 number 10's, Liverpool 2, Spurs - Erikson, I can't see him fitting in at Chelsea and Man U have Fellaini..

Why? They clearly can, given they're only going to be raking in more money. Sure, there will be a lot of interest... but they've shown they're able and willing to reject massive offers. And this summer they'll know that if they reject offers for all three, there's a good chance people will be offering even more money the summer after.

Because the players will want to go elsewhere, earn more money and win trophies. You can only hold onto players for so long when you can't offer them huge wages, CL football and trophies. If Everton really dig their heels in then why would future players there sign long contracts if they know that Everton will hold them back if bigger teams come in for them.

This is the best set of players Everton have had since the 80's. Martinez is doing a woeful job with them. It's clear the press now have started to get the message with many more of them picking up on how good the players are and how bad the results have been while we leak goals for fun. I don't see many of the better players in this side being around next year with a manager sitting them 8th-10th.

He couldn't build a solid defense if his life depended on it.

lol, one thing, Martinez put together the squad and they are so much more exciting to watch than any Moyes team it's embarrassing.

Second, it isn't the best squad, it's the squad with the best potential. For every great match Barkley has, he has a completely rubbish one where he makes almost every wrong choice. Deulofeu is another player who one game is brilliant the next is crap. His last few games in particular have been very poor, he looks exciting but he gets bogged down. Rather than running at defenders he constantly slows down then does loads of step overs and often blasts a cross or shot into the defender. This is the thing with several young players in key positions, they are inconsistent. On their game, like today(well not Deulo imho), they can beat City, another day and Barkley drives forward with the ball, fullbacks, midfielders and attackers flood forwards then he does something stupid and leaves the team vulnerable to the counter attack.

Stones, Galloway are also inconsistent, injuries have hurt Everton a lot, Stones last year so they had to stick with Distin till he was back. This year Jag out, though Distin's replacement is far better, he's improving by the game. However it's more Stones really making some big rookie mistakes that with a experienced Jag alongside him he made less of those mistakes. Baines is back from injury and gaining form by the game but not at his best. Everton aren't a team that will have monumental depth and they aren't a team that can go oh, 3-4 players have gotten too old, lets replace them all in one transfer window. howard being replaced, probably not this month, probably in summer, will also have a very big effect on the side.

It is funny though that you claim this is the best side you've had considering you kept saying there was nothing at all special and no signs of anything special about Lukaku.

As for the current form, 27 points after 20 games was something Moyes didn't achieve in his last 4 seasons at Everton... it only looks bad compared to Martinez's first year. Raise your expectations and now you're saying he's terrible by ignoring the inconsistency inherent in the young players you're claiming are so good.

Stones obviously didn't kick up a huge fuss in the summer just gone (although of course he could have been promised all sorts - eg. they could have said they'll allow him to move next summer... we don't know, though). .

I think it's fair to say he was likely offered a deal to go if we don't meet targets and he hasn't kicked up a fuss. I would be surprised to see him at Everton next year. Barkley I can only really see at United, he wouldn't be cheap by any stretch but I'm just not that convinced he will fulfill his potential. As Baz said he seems to have all the talent in the world but no football brain at all, as though he's playing for the first time.

In Moyes last season, Everton were 6th after 20 games with 33 points, scoring 33 goals and conceding 25. They finished 6th at the end of the season.

Why are you lying DM?

Here we go.

Liverpool 11:
-------------Migs
Flanno-Toure-Sakho-Moreno
---Hendo--Lucas--Can
Milner----Firmino----Lallana

Stoke have gone with both Walters and Crouch in what looks like a front 4, clearly trying to target us aerially.
