Car Damaged Due To Garage Incompetence

Quick update:
Garage has agreed to replace windscreen but has not accepted liablity for the rest of the damage:confused:

Looks like I'm heading to the scrappies on the weekend to get a new bonnet and finding the old dent puller and filler, haven't been/used either for a while...

Don't you dare!
Take the ****ers to court FFS.

Talk about walk over. Doesn't anyone have any balls these days.. :(

Ouch that sucks, I can't see you getting them to accept liability though.

That's why I always check my car, had a wheel (almost) fall off and that was my old man that was fixing the car!! A mechanic with a lifetimes worth of experience. Think it was his students, but still.

If the garage has admitted liability for the windscreen, which was caused by them not closing the bonnet correctly, then surely this is a result of THEIR error and they have essentially admitted that anyway?

Take legal action without a doubt. You shouldn't be out of pocket for this.

Don't just accept the windscreen, if you roll over and let this lie you're a fool.

Get them to sort it, if they refuse get a Letter Before Action in the post to them via Recorded delivery (Google it) and then Small Claims Court.

Whilst this appears to be a bit shoddy on the part of the garage, in all honesty, the OP should have done a basic walk around check prior to driving it, if nothing else to make sure the garage has not dinked the car for example whilst it was in the workshop.

Harsh as this may seem, I'd be amazed if the garage paid up.

An expensive lesson for the OP alas.

Damn, the paint has splintered where it's hit the roof too, so popping it back out wouldnt really make it look much better! Goodluck getting it all sorted. Reading threads like this I like to think I'd take more notice in future but its pretty easy to just jump in your car and drive off, after all they are the ones who make cars road worthy!
