but what about the rest of the car though?

handling was nice, interior wasnt bad, the roof was very fast which was handy, but the car had too many minor problems and one large failing....the engine. Why on earth people actually enjoy having to thrash around at 8k just to get any performance is beyond me, below 4k the engine is utterly gutless to the point where hills required a downshift.

Id steer well clear and buy a proper engined car, VTEC for me a very poor joke

deadly serious matey

the vtec engine is pathetic and the s2000 was truely an awful car, cannot understand the fanbase/fanboys total waste of money imo

Can you elaborate?

Personally, I wouldn't have one if I was spending that kind of money and my VTi will be the last VTEC I have.
I use the motorway everyday and its such a chore knocking it down 2 gears all the time.

However, the S2000 does really shift when driven right. It was also no.1 in the Top Gear satisfaction survey which conveys to me that it lives up to its promise of being a performance car and does it very reliably.

I suspect you feel the same as me, but to call it "rubbish", you must have something important to add, please elaborate? :)

EDIT: I see you just explained above. :)

As said a trillion times before - A remap will drop vtec engagement down to 4,500rpm (or whatever you want really) & suddenly the car has a big mid-range & a few extra ponies top end too.

At 4k revs its got less then 100bhp available which isnt very fast. I presume thats the problem if your used to a car which would have everything available at that point. Stick a vortech supercharged on it :)

seems you think along similar lines to me (which, incidentally should worry you).
Vtec's are all the same, sure they're quick but you really have to work them to get the performance.as a second car or a track car then it's a yes from me,but to go through that day in day out is tiresome to me and almost feels like a chore.
