Car Security - Clifford Blackjax

I'm willing to bet a lot of car thieves would know exactly what's wrong ;)

Guess it depends who you are trying to defend against, a career car thief will know what's going on.

I've got blackjax on the Rx. Had it fitted in 2004 but the feature has stopped working. It doesn't activate at all. Need to get my laptop hooked up to it and take a look. It is a nice feature. If they rob your keys whilst you're asleep, the car will cut out down the road.

As said above, the seasoned organised crime veteran will know this and, most likely with that car being stolen 'to order', will do anything to get the car away.

These criminals aren't your typical drunk chavs... they are cruel and streetwise people with one thing on their mind, getting the car and the keys to the docks/garage/lock-up. I've not heard many encounters going nicely for the victims of these sorts of crimes - usually awoken in the middle of the night with a knife to their throat/their child's throat and their dog/s dead or drugged downstairs etc.

In my experience the only thing a Clifford alarm will keep out is the owner.

Its probably the installer who didnt have a clue when they put one in your car ;)
The thing with cliffords is that you need it to be installed by someone who has decent knowledge of clifford alarm systems, not some duff outfit (one begins with a G and has the last 2 letters the same as a racing brake company ;)).
Never had any issues with the several clifford alarms ive had fitted (from a 50, 300, 600 and 650), the valet switches do wear out, if you do what your suppose to and get the alarm serviced every year or 2, the alarm fitter will replace it for you (one of the big mistakes is thinking once an alarm system is fitted, thats it, far from it, it needs care and adjustments just like anything else).
The blackjax is a very good bit of kit, there are a couple of people I know who have had this fitted with a clifford alarm and its saved their car from going walkies when they have been burgled :( and the car is stranded 3-400 yards down the road making a real racket, it draws quite a bit of attention.

Tony:)

best thing to do is to set the number so it has 1's and 2's in it otherwise it takes ages to enter it

my code was 1121, which equated to 9 button pushes, where as 9989 is 29 button pushes :p

anyone, know of a good installer apartfrom gap, who i have to say i have nat had a problem with, that can install intellistart for me i live in worcestershire cheers

Its irrelevent what kind of theif they are, when they drive off they have no ideal what kind of alarm is fitted, as far as they are concerned its already been defeated by them using the keys to start the car. When it cuts out half a kilometer away with the alarm sounding at 100db they are not going to come find you to get the code, they are going to run for it.

Criminals do not want to get caught, and will always take the easiest option to get what they want.

one question tho, are you supposed to test out the blackjax, now and again to make sure it works as it should, in the way of running the car on ya drive and let it go off like that?

Does the fob not say Clifford on it? Even if it doesn't I'd hazard a guess that most thieves know what a Clifford fob looks like.

1 question, the siren sounds on a clifford alarm, if you were to disable the personalised ones via cliffnet, would you still get the siren goin off if the alarm is activated??

thanks

Only a very select few Clifford alarms have Blackjax included. And lol, because that guy who steals your car from you at the lights is going to stop and examine the key fob.
