I really think they need to make this rule clear, it has gone both ways and it is never made clear which decision is correct

They should come out and say why they didn't give it. Was it offside or wasn't? Was it a foul on Reina or not?

Defoe gained nothing from being in an offside position from the start. He ran back, past where the original offside line would have been, giving him a clear disadvantage.
Therefore, how that is still offside i do not know.
