carling cup football thread 22-23 *spoilers*

so wolves lose by the same score as leeds did, with a goal at exactly the same time (65th minute) only difference being wolves opponents actually got a player sent off as liverpool should have.

Mature performance after going a man down. De Laet and Gibson did well, Brown made a great last ditch tackle. Evans handled the tall guy really well. King doesn't look half bad. Just wish fergie had bought Tosic on :(

Does it look like penalties or will someone score in extra time?

If they keep shooting, City will score, we just brought on Elm who has been very good so far. Be pretty surprised if Fulham hold on, but never know.. great result whatever happens considering our lineup, imo.

Nice sigs, btw :p

Toure, 2-1. Error by Greening/Kelly and lost possession and they score :(

Shame, both goals from corners, first a mistake by the GK, goes to show what you miss without Hangeland/Etuhu/Hughes defending corners for us. Mistakes on our part, can't really argue if it finishes like this, considering our lineup, and theirs, great result either way really.

Only one minute added on, even though Gera was injured and there was a sub. Nevermind, good result anyway :).

Didn't even let the minute go, and FT...oh well.

Gibson was invisible in midfield mate, as for Tosic I'm glad he got no where near the pitch nor will he ever

Loaned out in January, sold next summer ;)

Personally thought our whole midfield was pretty ****

Nani kept on taking the ball too far and then losing it, and if he tried to cross it was well off target / too near the gk

Gibson was ok in parts, but sometimes he was pretty invisible

Carrick did ok, but seems to have lost a lot of confidence, and his shooting boots have gone missing too

Welbeck did well upfront, cant remember how he did before Fabio was sent off though (feel for Kiko but that was the only option to take really)

Brown did very well, several last ditch tackles, Jonny Evans didnt seem to do too much but kept the tall guy quiet most of the time

Gary Neville did ok, would be worried about him playing agianst a top side but his crossing was great and he did what he had to most of the time defensively, but would be had for pace I think against top players

PIG did ok - wasnt that severely tested though, harsh to compare him against Foster on that showing (as all EPL games so far have been against much better sides), PIG will probably get the Stoke game now which is fair enough but VdS is needed back asap

Wolves seemed to stroll through central midfield when they wanted to which was the main concern, With better finishing they could have been out of sight before Welbeck's goal (excellently taken, and great assist by Owen)

Valencia did ok when he came on, but didnt really get that much of a chance to show what he can do

De Laet did ok too, reasonable sub I guess for most games but doesnt compare at all to Evra or Fabio

well i was there at OT last night.

Gibson looked okay, i have criticised him before but he had an OKAY match, should probably have scored?

Nani... the boy wonder... one minute he can skin a guy and take on another 2... the next he crosses and cant beat the first man. silky skills but a terrible mentality. performance capped by a short corner he took, straight to wolves defence and a shot from outside the box that nearly left the stadium.

wellbeck...first time he got the ball he tried to run and looked like a 2 legged donkey, running the ball straight off the pitch. he came back and did better but he seems to lack basic ball control skills...nice goal though!

carrick, another anonymous performance tbh... against lower opposition. what does he really bring to the team?

de laet... QUICK FEET. this guys is impressive, lost it a little after Keogh came on but before this he was runnin the show from left back!

new striker dude, looked extremely fast but fluffed his real opportunity to score opting to hit the keeper.../

overall quite a poor game. the atmosphere was missing completely the fans wouldnt sing.

even the wolves fans tried harder and told us all how rubbish the utd fans really were, they had a point!
