Carling

Carling is a generic, fizzy, beer flavoured drink, meant for purchase/consumption by teenagers/football hooligans.

I'd best describe it as 'Liquid headache in a glass'.

Beer :)

If it was calton then i could tell you :(

IU cant remember if ive had Carling or not :o

Foul, I much prefer Tooheys New/Old :D

More info for the OP:

Lager:

Carling
Stella
Grolsch
K1664
Fosters
Staropramem

All fairly standard, some stronger than others is flavor/volume

Nitrokegs (Pretend Beer)

John Smiths
Worthingtons
Cafreys
Boddingtons
Tetley

Note, some of the above do have a real cask version

Cask (Real Beer)

Spitfire
Black Sheep
Brew XI
Bass
Bishops Finger
Broadside
Summer Lightning
Old Speckled Hen

All completely different in flavor, colour, strength and brewery. No dirty added chemicals, and absolutley brilliant. Try local ones where you can, you can find some real gems.

Oh,

Porters/Stout

Guinness
Murphys
Black Cat
Black Adder

Again, mostly brilliant, and my no1 choice :)

can people please learn that the word is "lager" not "larger"

as in: your brain is definitely not "larger" unless you spell a variety of beer "lager"

thankyou

my rant is over

edit: Carling is weak, pretty much flavourless and unexciting. You can drink loads of it though, if thats what you're into - I prefer something fuller bodied like Heineken or darker like Michelob.

mmmm Michelob

If you want a good larger stay away from cheap crap.

Chose Stella, it is reasuringly expensive.

erm.... and reasuringly dodgey - its expensive cause its strong, and thats about it (well the uk stuff atleast, get it on the continent and its 100% better :))

apparantly carling is made brewed for a weak taste for people who arent too keen on the taste of lager.

Lager is served cold for a reason. The colder a liquid is, the less it tastes of anything. This is why warm lager is foul.

Lager is designed to refresh, rather than amuse taste buds :)

Carling is horrible, watered urine and somebody put it.

Stella and grolsch and carlsberg are nice. Bud isn't too bad either.

i work in a pub and Carling is £2.55 a pint, where as Carlsberg is £2.50 Stella £2.75 Krony £2.75 and fosters £2.50.

Carlsberg export is my fav and Carling taste like crap!

theres no bitter better then Courage Best tho!

YoP!

Export is probably the only lager I'll actively look to drink, great stuff :). £2.20 is the average for a pint of Carling up here in Warwickshire.. goes to show doesnt it :)

Kronenberg 1664 gets my nod. Only real choice for me, as it's rather nice and leaves me wanting another.

Stella on the other hand is horrendous. One bottle of that and I'm just about done. Nasty stuff. :p

What a strange bunch you all are.

When you buy carling, fosters, carlsberg, kronenberg, stella - they usually all taste very similar. They all taste like lager. If it tastes like urine its probably because its off or watered down. If you goto a nice pub that respects their clientel and gives you nice fresh lager then they are all pretty tasty. MY favourite is Foster, it has a warm woody taste. You never get that in a can or a wetherspoons though.

If you've having spicy food then there's nothing better than Cobra or Chinese lager. If you've after a fresh light lager then San Miguel, Sol and Corona are pretty good.

Am I mising something here? last time I checked Stella was one of the cheapest pints you could get in a bar, along with carling. Stella tastes almost as bad as tennents anyway. Pretty strong too, which is why they call it wife beater up here.

Cant beat erdinger, gambrinus or krusovich.

In my experence Stella is the most expensive of the "normal" largers.

Carling is watered down Fosters.. And Fosters is pretty watered down so you get the idea...

This is all we drink at the Reading Festival each year as Carling sponsor it and quite frankly I've had enough of it.. Why can't Smirnoff or something sponsor this year? Come on, The Smashing Pumpkins are playing this year, please change sponsor.

Thanks

carling and stella both £1.60 a pint in my union and its usually one of the cheaper multipacks you can buy in tesco.

In the pubs round here carling and fosters are around £2 to £2-20 and stella 1664 etc are £2-40 to £2-60 a pint.
