Carragher

I'm right. Why am I a troll? I post equally in all football threads?
Cantona is the best player the Premiership has seen, he was the leader (albeit not captain) through our era of dominance through the 90's. A master.

And Carragher isn't a very good defender.

So on that basis and the fact I just broke it down for you to understand, then I find it hard to disagree with my original opinion.

Cantona was good, the best ? almost certainly not

Carragher is a good defender, the best ? probably not

I would imagine few neutrals would agree fully with your opinions

Wha a load of dribble, if you seriously think Cantona is the best player to grace the Prem, you need to get the blinkers off.

Liverpool claim Jamie Carragher was spat at and had beer thrown over him by Luton Town supporters.

The defender had been signing autographs after the 1-1 FA Cup third round draw at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.

Carragher was so incensed by the incident that he then attempted to climb into the stand to confront those concerned.

Liverpool have confirmed that the player has no case to answer with them regarding his actions as he was not to be blamed for the events

At the end of the warm-down, Jamie went back to sign autographs for youngsters in the executive boxes," a club spokesman said.

"Unfortunately, he was subjected to a tirade of foul-mouthed abuse and also had beer thrown at him."

Throwing a coin back into a section of fans back in 2002, so you would think he would learn to ignore fans.
Even so, to compare him to Barton with the track record he has? I think that's extremely harsh.

The Sun hates everything to do with Liverpool. If it was a player from any other club I very much doubt it would've made front page news.

"tirade of foul-mouthed abuse"

I cant help but wonder what the media take on this would be if he had been a black player, and the fans had been yelling the N word at him, making monkey noises etc

good on him. Fans need to learn their actions are not without repurcussions and players are human as well. If you give it then you should be prepared to take it.

Granted it is not the best role model to put across to young players but in that situation I reckon most players would have reacted in a similar manner.

Case closed then tbh.

How anyone can say Carragher is not a good defender is beyond me.

Even as a Man Utd fan I can say Carragher is a good player who's passionate about his club and wants them to win every game. It's no wonder he was aggreviated by the Luton fans - It was their cup final and created a tense atmosphere for every Liverpool player.

Carragher wasnt playing for liverpool on sunday

They had some fella playing at the back who was being run ragged by some random ginger Luton player.

Can't believe that some people would ignore that type of thing, must be the same types that would go and tell a teacher when at school rather than stand up for themselves. Anyway, he never over stepped the mark as he never actually struck anyone, he just gave a piece of his mind so to speak.

I may have misinterpreted but i am under the impression that 1 or 2 earlier posts were questioning the difference between this incident and the infamous Cantona one? I feel that my previous remark distinguishes that. For what it is worth, my opinion is that Cantona was the best player ever to play in the premiership and i was damn jealous that he played for UTD.

He was reacting to abuse from the crowd not inciting the crowd.

Like Youstolemyname says footballers are human too and i'd bet that 99% of people here would have reacted in atleast the same way to having beer thrown at them and being spat at regardless of the verbal abuse he was getting.
