Casual WoW Players

It would be great to be part of a guild of casual players.

Thegoon84 can you give some details on how people can join?

Yeah no prob mate...

We're on the alliance, most of us are very casual we do have one or 2 who are proper hardcore

Here's our vent details:

IP: 85.236.100.69
Port: 53584
Password: OCUK

shadowsong Alliance normal server

and by proper hardcore he means me tho i class myself as casual as I dont raid atm :p but I do have 7 level 80 characters :D

I recently came back after very long time off (only played a month of TBC) and find the game a lot more accessible and casual player friendly now compared to vanilla. Quest helpers are built in now, new LFG system is a doddle to find groups compared to old times of trying to organise them, new ICC5 drops are great and badges are easy to grind. You can get yourself equipped with T9 in no time and when you done, you should also have enough badges for a first frost piece of gear. You also have the opportunity for some excellent crafted items and even better ICC crafts, which with falling saronite prices are more and more accessible. Weekly quests usually very easy so some easy frosties there and once you equipped in T9 or equivalent you can start PUGing some of the harder instances.

EDIT: Woop, didn't know we had any Shadowsong lot here? Been playing on and off there since launch under the same name :D

In have recently moved to Argent Dawn due to the large Alliance player base....

Really enjoying it. Still getting used to people role playing but every one is reallly nice, much better community than my old server

how are mages to level?

i hear they can be rather tricky due to lack of armor or pet to tank for them unlike a warlock who has their minion

how are they at soloing group quests?

i think Mage spells would really show off the awesome HDR/Bloom engine improvements that this mod brings.

:D but think of the pretty looking spells i will be casting :D

its a toss up between undead mage or nelf balance druid since i have never levelled either

I have a level 80 mage and began with frost, which was OK but found it slow for leveling but would rarely die. Now i went to fire and found it a lot of fun, i think mainly because its risky but you can down enemies soo fast just have to keep checking your mana.

I also played with a pally tank somtimes so basically he took the aggro and i nuked, but fire does also work solo (just have to nuke them down before they reach you).I have never played arcane below level 80 so couldnt really comment on it.

If i was you i'd go frost first and if you feel your leveling to slow switch to fire and start nuking :D

Recently started on Shadowsong server, currently finished lvling my main and starting a druid alt.

If any of you are looking for enchants gimme a shout, lemme know yer from OcUK tho ;)

Just finished levelling my mage, just some quick thoughts.

Frost is the only way to go to level. It has the massive bonus of frost nova which freezes everything close in place for a couple of secs. You move back a bit and then blizzard them to death with the help of crit talents. This helps levelling a lot (gather up 4 or 5 of them then nova) as well as pvp (although not the blizzard bit, just for target control and frostbolt). Fire is not good for levelling, because invariably you get stuff on fire running up to you and hitting you, then you die, after which they die. Arcane is insane to try and level with until you get to level 60 and the almighty arcane barrage and can talent presence of mind, making instant shot heaven. I switched to arcane as soon as it became a viable spec because youre basically churning out much damage, and i like that.

Race - well, undead was a popular choice mainly because of will of the forsaken, the racial which basically was another snare breaker. Doubled with Insignia of the horde, you got two get out of jail free cards. Someone cottoned onto this and it was put on the same cooldown so now its ****** useless. Im a tauren for berserker which lets me shoot stuff fast every couple of mins. But belfs are a valid choice too, cant remember theyre racial. Of course you could just sod it and play an undead anyway.

Other than that, get mods including mage nuggets and power auras, run dungeons and pvp till you bleed and youll be 80 in no time. Oh yeah, read arcane brilliance on wow.com - archmage pants is our god. And hate warlocks, always hate warlocks. theyre the first to die in any pvp :)

how did you fair at soloing group quests? thats the big thing stopping me from being a mage

are they as insane in pvp as people say?

my hunter and warlock can do these with ease.

As a mage the general rule of if you can kite it, you can kill it applies.
Therefore there is a lot of group quests you can solo but nowhere near all of them. If you want something for soloing group quests then paladin or (feral)druid is your answer.

And yes, frost mages in pvp are nasty :p

levelled two paladins to 80 :o

considering Balance Druid but i want something OP for PVP but is still good and interesting for PVE

and dont forget about those pretty spells :D

I solo the ToC daily 3man quest with my Fury Warrior, I manage to have near 80% hp left once its down.

I would imagine a decent mage could solo group quests if some thought is put into it beforehand?

As mentioned above, if the mob will take a frostbolt snare, you can kill it as a Mage. The trouble is, pretty much all of the group quest mobs from Outlands onwards are immune to snaring, so you get killed pretty fast unless you're willing to try aggro tennis with your water elemental.
