Casual WoW Players

found rouges boring, and a pain the bum to do solo group quests with due to the fact like mages they need to be in total control of a fight for it to go smoothly.

plus they dont do pretty spells :D

im actually leaning towards a Balance Druid now on the grounds that playing tennis with your Water Elemental sounds a bit ghey.

Erm unlucky then because you've just said no to the best one on one class. :)

High presence in top arena teams too and excellent PvE DPS.

Rogues are huge fun admittedly and ill be rolling one again - got my last one to 56 in vanilla before burning out on the grind. Its a so much different story these days.

Anyway back to mages. As above basically, easy to solo group quests until outland, when your snares become less effective. Realistically though this time I didnt actually spend a large time questing, probably a fifth. I was using a quest addon but after a dungeon finder trip for gear and loot and a bit of pvp found all the quests were green so moved to the next level and then there were no more levels.

PvP varies massively. A decent frost mage can rule pvp but due to the nature of tight BGs like WSG or AB where youve got multiple enemies coming at you from all directions, your 1v1 tactics dont work so well. Thats why I play arcane at 80, I prefer the big damage with the mediocre slow and accept more deaths. Early levels though a nova at the right moment can win a game and the first time you manage to blizzard a nova'd group is orgasmic. But you are always the glass cannon and if youre in melee range without blink youll go down quicker than a thai hooker.

Id play a mage. We get blink which still annoys the hell out of melee classes, slow fall so we can jump off stuff perpetually, our spells are pretty and we dont have the gothic teenage angst of warlocks, who we are required to hate. Seriously, see a warlock in pvp and they must die. Its a rule. So sayeth Archmage Pants.

Trolls get that. Taurens get War Stomp...Arcane Torrent - Returns mana and aoe silence mobs. Great for heavy mana user.

Yeah one of the ones beginning with T... prefer the troll because berserking stacks with icy veins which is always handy and and fiddling with that and POM/Arcane Power for pvp is pure fun.

another question chappies

considering im used to playing hunter/lock

how much more difficult is it to level a mage?

mostly going to be using him/her for pvp at 80 though

A Mage is really simple to lvl/play, maybe abit to simple :p Im currently lvling a holy paladin at the mo after wanting a change from playing a resto shaman since vanilla. Im also playing very casual and glad im not grinding 4 hour raids each evening with my guild any more! Im Really hopeing that the expansion continues to give much love to the casual player as thats how im gunna be playing from now on :p

Ring support, I'm sure they can help you out.

Should I play a Paladin or Priest?

I'm about to level a Paladin using RAF. I heard it's pretty boring but oh wells.. My Shadow Priest (74) is a complete faceroll against any mobs. I can solo elites 2 levels above me just shielding, dotting and disperse. Lack of AoE sucks though. :p

whats Shadowsong like?

Im on Arathor lev 60 priest

Mages are a 3 button bot, kill kill and kill
but they can do massage damage, but can get killed very easy

I have an Alliance and a Horde Mage at level 80. At early levels it used to be kill-kill-drink-kill-kill-kill-drink-kill-kill-drink, which can get quite tedious. However, I think they've improved matters for mana users at low levels now - spirit regen was boosted substantially for the early levels iirc. For later levels mana becomes much, much less of an issue anyway.

You might hear people tell you about how whizz-bang Fire or Arcane are for levelling, but Frost really does trump them for ease of levelling and safety (though Fire is arguably more fun). Since you'll be PvPing at 80, you might as well get used to that spec from the start.

Gonna play my warrior casually raiding I think, never raided as anything else other than druid. If anyone wants a fury warrior in their casual yet fun and serious guild then let me know, used to be in a eu top 20 guild and did all of BC pre nerfs with some server firsts it WOTLK before I stopped playing.

Just looking for fun for now though, my life is very different from those hardcore days!

Lol thats a bit rich coming from an auto-attack class ;) levelling as a mage is helped if you go with frost as you can get quite a large amount of trash with your aoe attacks helping those 'collect x from y mobs' type of quests. You can make life harder for yourself by going fire, but like everything else the better you know your talents the better youll be. Ignore the '3 button' comments, maybe when youre pulling a mob (FB FB FB die) but when youre in pvp and up against the harder mobs youre gonna have to use every advantage you have and it gets horrendously complicated juggling cooldowns and using talents - great fun though.

Its no self-healing paladin (cough) and you really are a glass cannon, anyone getting close causes problems. Having said that pve its pretty good (and more importantly fun) when up against the not so hard hitting mobs and there is always dungeon finder and pvp to really leap up the scales - true of any class actually.

where in the hell does it say you HAVE to rp on rp realms?!

for me its an amusing side entity where i can stand there lolling at idiots

those that diss RP server, clearly have never played on them. There is no enforced RP at all.

You can happily go about your PVE/PVP business.

Ive levelled 1 Mage to 60and a seperate Mage to 80.

I levelled them both as fire just for the fun factor, frost would probably be more "efficient".

I PvP on him at 80 as Arcane - as a poster mentioned above, you do die a bit more but I enjoy the more gratifying (some might say simple ;-) ) playstyle.

I also went to the darkside and levelled a Warlock to 80, because I thought firing shadow hadoukens would be fun, and it would be nice to be a bit tougher than a Mage in BGs, with some good self healing (affliction). Also got sick of people in BGs breaking my sheeps.

Im finding it hard as my resil is only about 400 and even with soul link I get destroyed. (My Arc Mage has 1150 Resil and talented 6% damage reduce).

As for casual play, its awesome nowadays with the random dungeon finder and the random BG queue'r. You can log on for 30 mins and have fun and a little bit of gear progress as well.

If you are refering a paladin as a auto attack class then you are wrong :p atleast they have more buttons to hit then a mage does in pve! But all classes has there niche's its just from exp lvling a mage was abit straight foward and simple, can be fun though dont get me wrong.
