Absolutely horrific, can't believe someone could do that to something so harmless. It makes me sick. Its on very rare occasions like this where i can see 4chans uses.

That's not hypocrisy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypocrisy

"Hypocrisy is acting in a manner contradictory to one's professed beliefs and feelings, or conversely, expressing false beliefs and opinions in order to conceal one's real feelings or motives"

If you complain about animal cruelty and then go and commit a worse act of cruelty then yes that is hypocritical.

Well done.

Now explain how eating meat whilst being against the torture of animals makes me a hypocrite.

I saw the first few seconds of the video where the guy/kid has his hand around the cats neck and I stopped watching because I knew I wasn't going to like what I saw (I have two cats, love animals and really can't stomach cruelty to animals).

In short, the person is low life scum. I'd happily kick him in the nuts for what he has done and I think he needs professional help and dealing with by the Police/RCPSA.

However, things like this (and much, much worse) happen daily. No outrage from the masses. I'm not sure what the punishment is for this type of animal cruelty in the states, but I can bet it's going to be a lot more lenient than what he is about to receive from the bandwagon jumping e-vigilantes/keyboard warriors.

I think what he has done is bad, but what others are doing in return can be seen as much worse. Surely the correct thing to do is have him dealt with by the proper authorities and let that be it, it sucks and maybe lenient, but that's life.

Shocking video. But thanks to /b/ if they find him, his life will be ruined - it's already pretty much ruined by having his name splashed all over the internet though.

i saw this yesterday, no idea why people think they're British though :/

It's been disproved. There's an Axe spray can in the video, which is branded as Lynx over here.

Eating meat = killing, which is worse than assault.
You'd rather constant prolonged tortured than die a quick instant death ?
I agree in some cases eating meat is bad (for example if they are living a lifestyle that is essentially torture), but i think your statements pretty wrong.

Great. Lets trash some kid's life. Wonderful.

You're right. Also, I'd like to add if the animal is endangered and/or hunted/fished in an irresponsible manner, then that is also wrong.

Congratulations, you're an idiot.

How is hegemon an idiot - he's right. Maybe not the KB warrior (of which OCUK appears to have far more than its fair share) comment but the staged bit is correct.

If you really slam a cat against the wall your going to break its bones and punching it your going to break bones and do damage. There doesn't seem to be any physical damage to the cat.

And before the aforementioned warriors have a pop, watching the video angered me more than I can express for scaring the cat like that but it was staged.

EDIT
Great. Lets trash some kid's life. Wonderful.

Well, he won't be doing it again thats for sure :) I think he deserves being named and shamed.

There was no mention of constant prolonged torture, it was one incident of assault as far as is known.
That's true, but if you can do that to your pet cat then you must be treating it pretty badly. I don't think i could ever do that to any of my pets, and its behavior did look like it was expecting it.

Eating meat does not equal killing. The eating generally comes quite some time after the killing and the vast majority of people doing the act of eating have nothing to do with the act of killing and don't even think about it.

To equate eating with killing or making it out as "worse than assault" is a flawed argument.

How do you know?

All this attention could inspire him into doing it again.

Punishment does not automatically equal rehabilitation and the criminal suddenly understanding the concept of empathy.

Oh ok, maybe he could up the stakes next time with a Lion - even things up a bit?

It might not stopping abusing animals but it will probably make him think twice before filming it and posting it on youtube.

Well there you go then. You've just justified my argument.

Basically what he's learnt for future reference is that he can still abuse animals but just not upload a video of it.

So all this outrage is pointless.

After seeing the picture of the cat against the wall I have no wish to watch the video. The poor thing will probably be scared for life and I hope whoever gives him a new home can at least make him feel loved again :(

In buying the meat you are resulting in more animals being killed to meet demand, that is an inescapeable fact.

and the vast majority of people doing the act of eating have nothing to do with the act of killing and don't even think about it.

It's irrelevant to the end result.
