Your welcome, it was the renaming that did the trick for me otherwise only 1 gpu would be used. This driver brought a bit more performance too.

Oh almost forgot, you may notice the 60fps vsync cap with this fix.

it dont matter if im hitting the vsync cap at least the hardware is being put to use hitting the cap on a games make me smile its a few years down the line when on new titles i fail to reach the vsync cap that i get worried and start thinking about upgrades lol

Was not mean't to sound bad guys, was just trying to correct bad information. If it sounded bad i'm sorry. The point was don't give information for something you don't understand or know how it works and spreading bad information in the process.

Cap profile files (AMD Catalyst Application Profiles) are required if you use a single AMD/ATI card or CrossfireX (more then one card). They add fixes to the drivers for single cards and crossfired cards (more then one card) configurations and are important to install with the latest drivers available and with the latest caps file available.

Example the current caps state.

Ive only started using them since i had xfire and never 'needed' them before, hence my answer.

So then, font of all knowledge....

For example - If CAP file 1 had BF3 'fixes' in them and then AMD realeased CAP file 2 for Skyrim fixes would CAP file 2 still include the fixes for CAP file one or are they game specfic?

The latest cap files contain all previous cap files fixes and they may also update some of the old profiles for some games that were added before in the previous caps. So always good to have the latest cap files installed with the latest drivers mate.

Cool, ta.

Generally do but just wanted to confirm!

learnt my lesson with those (forking) preview drivers tho - utter $^!7

When I had the ATI/AMD 5870 I never messed with the preview drivers they are in most cases a total waste of time and make other things unstable or worse cause problems trying to remove them and install new drivers. I only installed the windows hardware quality labs (WHQL) drivers that were released after I had been bitten by one of the preview drivers in the past that later caused problems trying to update the drivers.

The main reason I left the AMD/ATI camp was their drivers that over time seem to have got worse, ashame I liked being with AMD/ATI and liked the quality of their video playback. Ohh well not regretting going over to Nvidia at the moment and enjoying a stable system that just works as designed without spending half my life updating drivers and cap files, but if they start to show signs that their drivers start getting worse I will jump ship again and go back to AMD/ATI if they have improved their drivers.
