Man you got some balls, unless your living in a freezer, i can see your temps rocketing and then plenty of system restarts, i could be wrong and it would be interesting to see what your max temps are after playing an graphically intensive game for over ten minutes.

If you do monitor them, i find the AMD clock tool the easiest way to find you max temps quickly and easily.

I'll monitor them, but I dunno if I am bothered, I dont want this 2900 anymore, I listined to people saying it was on par with a GTS and sometimes faster, in my system it aint, the GTS is better apart from TDU, the fan noise drives me up the wall, I cant leave the PC on at night, I dont think I would want to coz I cant afford to pay the electric bill, I wish I stuck with a GTS, I could have bought the Orange Box when it came out then aswell.

I might be asking for a swap on this soon.

Well you do seem to have some performance issues, like the errors scanning in ATI tool and the low fps in stalker, could it be a dodgy card or something else, run 3D mark and see if you get a score on par with the rest of us 2900 owners.

In 3DMark05 I got 18600.

I get 20445 3DMarks-6476 CPUMarks, yours looks normal though. Nothing much more i can say, if your not happy with the card, there's no point persevering with it, do as you said and swap it on for another, though i believe you previously had a GTS, not fancy a change, maybe a GTX?

Raven check your sig, thats a good score for a 3.5 mhz cpu

05 gives me around 19.9k marks with stock 2900 and 3.5ghz c2d, so I would say Willhubs score is about right.

20445? Is your 2900 overclocked? I rekon that the extra 300Mhz on the CPU would push it to that.

But I seem to be underperforming in everything.

Not a good idea. All that extra heat isn't going to be healthy for the card plus you'll more than likely get artifacts :rolleyes:

Run the fear test and CCS stress test and other benches and post up what fps you get and what settings you used, if you haven't already given up on it. Monitor your temps as well.

Well will i would attempt a swap with ya but I think you'd be looking for a 640mb GTS!

Shame your having so many problems though, that really does suck.

Thats most likely the reason that will isnt performing as well...the card is probably down clocking due to the heat with the fan only at 25% and thus giving poorer performance across the board.

Not really, I have not actually tried 25% in games yet apart from Aquamark3.

I'm going to do some benchmarks and post em in here see what other people with the 2900 get.

Multiple benchmarks that I posted from an updated review the other day show the XT to be on par and better most of the time. I reckon you've been looking to hard for problems with it since day one. Stop complaining and return it while you can under the distance selling act. Your more than likely getting artifacts if your running the Artifact scanner with 25% fan as that thing seriously stresses and heats up your GPU. No body can explain your game performance but it certainly aint that bad here or for most other 2900 owners on this board.

Im truley confused :confused:

, like i mentioned before my fan is pretty quiet, dont hear it over my headphones when im playing games and when im not wearing them, like just now, cant hear it over my fans in my Antec case and they are set to low.

Although i have to admit that these 7.7 drivers have casued me some greif as they keep me from playing ET, the 7.6 gave me a vpu recovery intermittenly ( could maybe get an hr worth of gaming in before it happened))and these 1s give it about every time i load the game.

Hopefully with all the email crash log reports ive been sending will help them find the problem for the next Cat release or maybe even a hot fix

Ummm, it was at 31% fan in that vid actually.

I've also ruled the artifact problem out as a bug, it dont do it all the time, If I click scan for artifacts before the 3d view is open, I get no artifacts, if I show 3d view, then scan for artifacts, it does has artifacts, so thats fine.

Right sorry, I wouldn't have been able to see on the vid as the quality was attrocious
