Catalyst 8.8 released

These are awesome drivers, just ran the Fear test, under the 8.7's minimum was about 67, max around 300 odd, thats at 1280x1024 everything maxed with no AA, under the 8.8's minimum is now 76, with the maximum about 440.

EDIT: Just done some testing, and its something to do with me keyboard , Saitek Eclipse II USB, first time i ran Fear i forgot to put me keyboard back in (as i have to use a PS2 one to get into safe-mode) and it got 76 minimum, 440 odd max, put keyboard back in, re-ran it, back to normal 67 minimum, 330 odd max, so removed it again and re-ran, you guessed it, back up to 76 minimum, 440 odd max, WTF!!!

I am on vista X64 with 4850 crossfire and cant get these drivers to work for the life of me tryed uninstalling then restart, then use driver sweeper then start again, then install drivers but they dont work i cant even get the stand alone driver to work went back to 8.7 and they installed first time any one know of a way to solve my problem please?

Scratch my last reply. GRID still crashes and the display driver has to recover.

I blame GRID however, not ATi... although it used to work a bit better on the older drivers.

That reminds me of the keyboard I had once that caused all my units to commit suicide in an RTS game.

Fear has a weird bug where having a USB keyboard/mouse plugged in can cause fps issues, google it heh.

Drivers are fine for me. No issues I can find. Crysis does not have the shadow bug (or I cannot find it).

Also installed over the top of 8.7s and no issues with that either.

Working nicely here, no real performance changes over previous drivers really but the bug fixes are very welcome. The little white dots plaguing me in Dx10 games seem to have been fixed so that's reason enough for me to keep em' :)

i still have a 400 point 3dm06 loss (taken away in 8.6). but apart from that there working ok for me. vista 64 complete driver/ccc package. The Avivo fixes were welcome. cant stand denoise and dissable immediatly. settings wouldnt save properly in 8.7. media centre could return them to default.

Well I downloaded just the drivers and not the one's included in the whole package as mentioned on the pages before this one. Re-installed them over the top and now I haven't had that message. GRID still crashes with the usual "program has stopped responding" but this seems to have fixed the issue with regards to the "display driver".

Give that a go and see if it works for you. :)

Is anyone able to fire up GRID and see if they get crashing, etc please.

Thanks.

Hi Firegod, thanks for your reply. Is Grid the only game that you are experiencing problems in or is it other games as well?

This is extremely annoying now, I'm not sure if the actual ATI 4870 graphics card is at fault here or just a software based issue. :)

Anyone got Pro evolution soccer 2008 on their comp who could have a try and see how it runs? Getting a lot of slow downs when I'm playing.

Pro Evo 2008, Grid, Crysis, Timeshift, CoD4 are all flying :D. Assassins Creed is a little choppier than on 8800GTX however but I'm going to try the 8.6 hotfix drivers to see if performance changes. All on XP btw. Only games I've tested for now.

Just experimenting a bit with adaptive aa, there seems to be no difference at all performance-wise between performance and quality. Anyone else finding that? I suppose that shouldn't be all that surprising given how aaa is implemented in the ati drivers but still... I'd have expected some drop. (tested in grid and tf2).
