Catalyst 9.8 :)

Final8y you was spot on thankyou for that :-}
And Loadsamoney you are right as normal :-} but coming from XP for so many years and now seeing 3d 06 running so very smooth on these 9.8 drivers on Windows 7 "I shed a tear"

hehe

possible temp fix for Anno until sorted properly.

Voila: Black squares gone.

update:- ATi are saying they are aware of the issue but that the problem is NOT likely to be fixed in the next set of drivers :(

update 2:- just tested the above and it seems to work for me. :)

Can somebody please help me, I am a bit useless when it comes to techy things. Just installed the new 9.8s for my 4870x2. How is it you set an option to allow the fan speed to vary as per the temperature automatically?

Before i game, I usually up it to 50% and forget but is there a way so I don't have to keep messing with the fan speeds every time I want to game?

Thanks, PhysicHull

Moreover, can somebody please tell me why when playing ETW on 9.6 my temps are around 75-80 with everything on max and no problems, but with 9.8 or 9.7, my temps hit 95+ and the emergency 100% fan power kicks in.....this is worrying me as everybody says how good the 9.8's are, where I'm getting no gain in performance, plus high temps! In fact, on just about everything, my temps rocket!

Just uninstalled 9.7 (which for me were backwards from 9.6) to 9.8 and now the max resolution for my t200hd is 1440x900?!?!?!

EDIT: Fixed with a 3rd restart (as in I had to restart again AFTER restarting once installed)

Did you use a driver cleaner ?

put these on for my 4870 and it went black screen in cod4, could hear all the sounds etc but couldnt view anything.

I've just re-installed CoH for the first time since i got it upon release.

Now i'm playing it on a much better system, on a much bigger monitor, and under DX10 with no slowdown. For a game 3 years old, it still holds up like new.

Really enjoying doing the campaign again, its like i've never played it before. The few but small DX10 effects do look really nice though :)

Company of Heroes running well DX10 with this drivers? this is the only game i have been playing for months and 9.6 and 9.7 used to crash the game so it is now finally working OK?

If so time to update the reliable 9.5 ;)

See, its not just my system, as someone suggested.

Capcoms Gfx engine really does hate AA.....in R5 & SFIV

Almost a 50% drop in frame rate....

Good find :)

As for the Call of duty 5 w@w test may not show a gain in frames per second but boy it`s much smoother.
What i noticed comming from XP Windows 7 seemed to suffer from allot of screen tearing on the 9.7 drivers, but now on 9.8 much better.

Surpose these testers don`t talk about how a game feels, its more about FPS which does not tell the whole story.

Very well. I'm running it completely maxed out in DX10 in Win7 at 1680x1050 with a quad at 3.8ghz, 4gb ram, 1gb 4870. In the strest test, i get an average fps of 58, low of 48, and cant remember the highest.
