I think once you've fine tuned your rig, the only way to really see a meaningful improvement is to buy a faster card....

If you noticed the majority of titles with big performance number bumps were refering to quad fire, or cross fire, where frequently games can have issues so won't scale very well and some tweaking can make both cards work as normal.

Wasn't clear(I don't think) what gfx card you were using but I assume nothing using crossfire where the big gains were listed.

Company of Hereo's, a TWIMTBP game has always suffered from horrible dx10 performance, it almost certainly was a bug and if the numbers are accurate, have probably been fixed.

Plenty of reasons for cards to get more performance, it was Nvidia's style way back when to almost always reserve a decent amount of performance then come out with a magical driver set 6 months later or whenever they needed to screw up an ATi launch.

IF anything the DX10 upwards ATi architechture, due to the SP clusters and the difficultly of coding for the max efficiency and extracting that full performance out. Meaning as we move into programable cards with small highly efficient cores, drivers will make a huge difference to performance.

ON a side note, did anyone else install these and have them simply work and NOT ask for a reboot?

aye same here, it's like the grass is not rendering but other stuff is. Loads of black everywhere. Tried turning off AA and AF, no difference :(
 
I've just re-installed CoH for the first time since i got it upon release.

Now i'm playing it on a much better system, on a much bigger monitor, and under DX10 with no slowdown. For a game 3 years old, it still holds up like new.

Really enjoying doing the campaign again, its like i've never played it before. The few but small DX10 effects do look really nice though :)
 
Well i am running Windows 7 (7100 build) installed 9.7 cat and on the windows experience index i had a score of 6.8 on graphics and gaming graphics now with the 9.8 cats it has gone down to 6.0 score ??

I know that it.s not a bench i should be concerned over but why has it dropped ?
 
Me again,
I am only going by one game i know but Call of duty 5 runs much better very smooth.
Coming from XP i did not hold up much for Win 7 how wrong i was :-}

Can not run 3d mark o6 says missing openal.32.dll ???
