Certain programs not working with Win7 and Gigabyte motherboards?

As I reported in another link in this forum, my Windows Experience does not work. It runs through and then crashes towards the end with a generic error message. Now Fraps does not work. I've just downloaded the latest version. Both are problems although they are not show stoppers for me. But they need reporting to someone. I don't know if it's a Windows 7 problem or a GB problem - any ideas?

I doubt it's got anything to do with your motherboard. I have a gigabyte P965 board and Windows Experience and FRAPs work perfectly on Win7 X64

Well I know it seems odd but I reported the windows experience not working before and someone else with a GB board had the same problem. Let me try and find it. Don't know if this will work.

Hi, I've installed Win 7 Pro on my UD4P. Win 7 is working ok...did you bother downloading any of Gigabytes Win7 drivers ?

Erm I think I did yes. Chipset drivers I think?

Ok...I've downloaded the RealTek HD Audio drivers and the chipset ones.
But not installed either yet, I'm just being wary.

There are Gigabyte chipset drivers for Windows 7?

Yes, chipset and audio, plus ethernet. The ethernet drivers from windows update refused to work! I'm using the mATX board by the way.

If you've installed kaspersky, there is a known issue preventing the Windows Experience Index from running in W7.

Oh really? lol. Guess what I have installed. I have Kaspersky AV 2010 installed here. I wonder if disabling it will remedy this or whether I need a new AV. I wonder if that's messing up Fraps too!

Ah, that explains why it keeps failing. Might install the ethernet drivers manually if I can figure out how.

Coincidentally, I've also got a Gigabyte P965 DS4 (v1.0). I simply uninstalled KIS 2010 as it was slowing my browsing and system generally, which took away the advantage of my new SSD. I've used KIS for years, but 2010 does appear problematic.

As soon as KIS was uninstalled, Windows Experience Index worked ok again.

I got caught by Windows Update for the ethernet drivers on Saturday evening. Rolled back via System Restore, and all ok now.

Right well as both instances of Win 7 had Kaspersky installed (if i recall) I will uninstall and try it.

Edit. No difference unforunately, and now I am down an AV package.

Ooh in that case I might give it a miss! If it aint broke and all.

It's the only blemish in my list of windows updates. I think I can live with that.

Sorry it didn't help. These is a long thread running about it on the Kaspersky support forums. I won't post the link as technically Kaspersky are a competitor (as they sell AV), but if you are interested, I'll PM the link.

I had to install graphics drivers on my laptop to get the windows experience to run successfully, Once the Nvidia drivers were installed it was happy, oddly enough I was using the laptop to play games so it's not as if the windows default drivers weren't there!

Please mate. I've just installed a 5850 and I'm going to give it another go.
