CES 2025 AMD & Nvidia Keynote Live Chat [06/01/25]

Frankly speaking, I'd be tempted to try AMD again this gen, just for fun. Finished my work stuff requiring 4090 and with current AAA state I'm fine going back to mid range really. But we'll see. :) 2 of my buddies are still on 6800xt and they seem to be very happy with the performance even in new games like DAV etc.
Yeah, the 6800 XT has been a great card for me over the last four years, and handles most of the stuff I play very well so I'm not surprised they're happy with theirs.

The thing is I play a lot of Helldivers 2 and Darktide (IIRC both of which use variations of the same engine that runs better on Nvidia) and since I went ultrawide I've had to enable FSR3 FG in the latter and FMF in the former to get good FPS. It works well enough, but I notice the added latency sometimes (particularly in HD2) so would like more performance. I also play on the TV at 4K/120Hz sometimes so it would be welcome there too. But we shall see.

On that note FSR3 FG works great in GoW Ragnarok, getting around 120fps average; maybe it's the controller but I really don't notice any latency in that. Looks stunning in HDR on an OLED too.

What are the chances we only see the 5080 announced?

I'm guessing he will do what he did with the 30 series, talk about the 5080 like the gaming card and then do the 5090 as the creator card and the one you need to lube up for even more and what did he say back then .. come here papa..... ...

Plays at the point I mean.. when he did the 3090 reveal...

not unreasonable given the 5090 is reported to have a board power draw of 575w alone, those power spikes could be as high as mid 750w, only for a split second but enough to overload a good few many psu's out on the market, we'll see soon enough :)
Modern PSUs (ATX3) account for spikes so that shouldnt be an issue. 1200w is my PSU, but I only game with it and even then I'll be applying an undervolt + overclock so shouldnt be a worry.
