CES Live Streams

lol "we can noticed about 200ms"........ yeah, fps players have been using 200ms as the benchmark for over a decade..............

Show streaming to a tv(done before) do it over gigabit ethernet. he started off banging on about super low latency, showed a really not very latency intensive thing on the big screen via ethernet, and then doesn't actually talk about how low the latency they've managed to get on cloud gaming.

The reason everyone got bored of cloud gaming was because latency is far far too high, so I was expecting, with him talking about latency, to be talking about how they've done the grid latency, nope. Only mentions (kind of) that it's probably below 200ms. Which has been doable for ages, and sucks, it's when it gets sub 60ms that cloud gaming could really take off.

Haven't said anything new or interesting yet. Starcraft 2 video so badly compressed it looks woeful and pixelated in all modes.... but we know about G-sync, gamerstream isn't new they just had a guy come out and play 1080p upscaled via the tv to 4k, through a shield connected to a PC on the other side of the.......... stage, via gigabit ethernet, it was low lag, shockingly.

They then did shield with over the shoulder camera for about 8 seconds, which was apparently connected to a server in france, and he didn't give any actual numbers, he just said "you notice lag when it's over 200ms".

This was about 2 mins before starting to talk about v-sync as introducing too much lag. Go g-sync because waiting one extra frame at 144hz which is < 7ms, is horrendous(but of course never showing g-sync above 60fps :p ), while saying "The grid, sub 200ms, wooo" . Cloud gaming is dead till some major new tech comes through as 200ms is a joke in any kind of game.

He's now saying they were the first company to make a dual core processor, and the first company to make a quad core processor..... and people were asking them why bother.

He's talking about Tegra but said first dual/quad core, not arm specifically, and I'm not sure either is true. Quad, maybe, and everyone else thought it was retarded to make a 40nm quad with 28nm months away, which is why their quad core got spanked by other companies dual cores around the same time, with better performance and power. He's rather over talking up his rubbish.

He's now saying 192 cuda cores is the first 192 core chip....... seriously? You're making 2800 shader chips and claiming the first 192 core chip?

For mobile computing

He keeps going out of his way to not say that, specifically saying first to make a dual core, first to make a quad core, he's also making the argument currently that having kepler in mobile will help having the same architecture on mobile and desktop like it's a major advantage... with a PS4 and X1 in the picture they showed, along with a desktop and mobile, which is not at all disingenuous while banging on about Kepler being available on all different types of hardware.

He's also missing out the part where he's asking dev's to spend more to make a AAA title scale down to mobile better, which is insanely bad for desktop/console gamers. Asking them to make a single game that could work on all platforms will heavily, badly limit the high end.

Once again he's just said along the lines of PC, console, Tegra K1, same architecture, same hardware, same engine, wow. Talking up Kepler with pictures of AMD based console hardware and claiming the same architecture on all platforms is soooo wrong.

lol @ avoiding what architecture the xBox One and PS4 are actually are :D

"Parity with next gen consoles" haven't we heard that before?

I clearly heard him say "mobile computing" multiple times.

He also said "i'm ill" and desktop, console, desktop console, mobile, he said a lot of things, context and you know putting the words together is a fairly important distinction. As said he's implied(to put it nicely) that the consoles have the same hardware as PC's and Tegra will in the future which helps the game dev's.

They do, its just not Nvidia.

Hes not asking for this , hes saying game devs want this to increase revenue for the game , More sales = more profit

Tegra K1 + UT4 those textures look stunning imagine what a PC Nvidia GPU could do with that  no wonder Nvidia did not give a toss about next gen GPU contracts ;)

Tegra K1 = GTX780 for mobile
