Championship playoff Final **Spoilers**

Couldnt be bothered to read all 5 pages, but I have to say I'd have prefered to see Leeds go up, purely for the fact they didnt deserve to be relegated in the first place, and I'll always think of them as a top premiership club. Watford will get eaten alive next season IMO, look what happened last time, they completely crumbled. Yes, Watford played better on the day, and they demolished palace, but palace aren't a quality premier team. Every time they've gone up, they've gone straight back down again!

Harsh on Leeds, I know where my money's going for the championship next season, anyway.

Southend.
:p

I think Gilly's point was simply that Leeds are a bigger, more internationally renowned club than Watford, which is fair enough considering Leeds were in the Champions League semi-final just 5 years ago, notwithstanding all the other history from previous decades.

Either way, every year in the championship is very different. Reading came from nowhere to destroy the league, you never know what's going to happen. :)

it's all tripe!

leeds are far from a global brand, just because Phil Masinga & Harpal Singh - who were utter rubbish anyhow!

you need to move with the times, Leeds UTD may have done a few things in the past but so did Notts Forest and Derby County, but it's a long time ago.

there are just a championship side now, and with the money problems still at the club will be for quite some time.

Lets face it, We aren't as good as we used to be . Not by a long stretch

We are hindered by debts, not owning our own stadium and often Blackwell's tactics.

We weren't good enough on the day or over the entire season. We went 5 games without a win. But before that we were verging on a 5th sucessive league win. We need consistancy.

Once the debts have subsided a bit more and we have a stronger defence.

Bates is the best thing that has happened in the last year or so, he is the right man to help us into the Top flight.

The ticket reciepts from the game will help all round, Wembley becons

//Edit: Leeds used to be a force worldwide, those days are long gone and so are the players.

well i heard 65% of there wage bill this season was paid on players who don't play for them anymore
Right.

Well it was more than that, but lets not squabble over more of your inaccuracies.

So, we were paying a hell of a lot out on players we don't have any more, and still paying debts off. So, now we don't have to pay those players, how exactly does that mean Leeds have big money problems?

You honestly don't believe Leeds United is a global brand?

Really?

Then its not surprising that your views elsewhere in the thread are so wide of the mark. You're living in your own little world. At least I understand you now :)

Global Brand  By 'global brand', I'm assuming you mean they can be associated with the likes of Coca Cola, Microsoft, Mcdonalds yada yada....

No way are LUFC a global brand.

No, I meant they're a brand known globally.

How else would you describe a club thats known on every continent

Just because certain people have 'heard' of a football team, does not make them a Global Brand, as you were implying in your previous posts. I would not even consider Leeds Utd a 'brand'.

well 65% was what i heard read in a sunday paper on the build up to the final you got whipped in... so take it up with them, anyway if it's more than 65% then the problems are worse...

Now you don't think Leeds have big money problems? you have be blinded by your love of that club...

There are an elite set of clubs known around the world, where people recognise the shirt and players…. They can be classed as a ‘global brand’ as you put it…. I would say Real Madrid, and AC Milan would be in there along with Liverpool & Man Utd to name but a few…. But not Leeds… not by a long way, Chelsea are investing a lot of cash to be in that ‘elite group’ but there shirt and product is still not a world force (yet)

again way of the truth! are wigan or bolton known on every continent? no... so why would a 2nd div club be?

Listen, if you hate Leeds so much why are you bothering to attempt to debate this with me? You've ignored my points, you've done nothing but try and troll me.

Come up with something worth saying and we'll talk. Otherwise make like a tree.

If I'm not mistaken, the Premiership is the most watched league in the world? Didn't Leeds play in the Premiership? How can an argument be made against Leeds not being a global brand when their games would've been watched by millions around the world week in week out? They might not be as well known as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United but they are known. I don't think Gilly has tried to imply otherwise.

Exactly :)

Take into account the history and the European campaigns of fairly recent times and I don't really see where people are coming from saying they aren't a global brand.

It'll weaken the longer we're out of the Prem, but I hardly think it gone yet.

i don't hate leeds.... i was cheering them on when they were in the CL a few years back, just don't think they are anywhere as big as what you think, and after spending time in America/Canda and Euro when i went traving, i know for a fact they are not a global brand... not by a long shot

All this bickering is a bit of a moot point. Leeds did not get promotion and by the sounds of it neither did they deserve to.

I realise it's hard to accept when your team had been at the top, but teams have to earn the right to play in the premier league it's not a given privelige.

As for a global brand, they undoubtedly were about 4 years ago but those days are gone. If Leeds are a global brand today then so are Notts Forest.
