Disable old accounts after a period of inactivity solves one and two.
THIS! If people aren't even active on the forums, ie logged in viewing, then disable the accounts after a certain period. Say a month or two

You're currently posting at the rate of hundreds of posts per 90 days, why are you throwing a strop that you'll need to maintain an average of one a week?Awful rule, it just enforces the " SPAM MORE " be active over 90 days to gain access... So all those posts I've already made, and the years of access on OCUK means no access unless I post 15 times over 90 days?
Just change the rules for new users - You must be an active member over a certain period of time or something

You don't have to?! Post as much or as little as you like.Because it's a choice, not a forced rule to gain access to something I may need at some point in the near future.
Ie, I'm choosing to post a certain amount, not being told I HAVE TO because it's a rule
Utterly bizarre logic there.Because it's a choice, not a forced rule to gain access to something I may need at some point in the near future.

You're getting upset because even though you already post way more than you need to, you don't like being told there's a restriction that doesn't materially affect you.

Sometimes, there's a larger point to be made.
The forum drives traffic to the shop. The MM doesn't. Arguably it puts a little more money in people's pockets which might get spent at the shop. But the MM itself doesn't drive traffic to the shop.Er no. Last I checked OCUK was not a charity. They fund the forums to drive traffic to ther shop.
Maybe somebody will make it at some point.
So far there's just been a lot of self centred entitlement from people getting upset that they'll be expected to give back a whopping post per week to keep accessing the perks of the community in order to help it it be that little bit more secure and trustworthy.
A lot of marketplace leeches coming out of the woodwork (for avoidance of doubt, that's not thinly veiled, that's my explicit opinion of what people are whose sole interest in this forum is the marketplace).

Far less of a problem than the monumental levels of entitlement from the people who think a post per week is too much to ask of them. You see it as aggressive and divisive, perhaps because it's touching a nerve and you don't like being called out on your entitlement?Your attitude is a large part of the problem. Them against us. Aggressive language. Setting the so-called community against each other. According to you, I'm not even a part of this community any more. Perhaps I never was. Not worthy. Less than. So be it. If this community does not value my contribution, then why should I strive harder to convince you or anyone else? I'll take my time, energy and possibly my business elsewhere. That's the point. I wonder if OcUK staff are watching.

A community thrives on the contributions of the community members, not the people sitting on the sidelines picking off the stuff that benefits them and giving nothing back.
If a post per week is such a chore, there's barely any contribution to value (or otherwise) in the first place.

If you're contributing to the forums and are not only here for the marketplace, then my comments directed at people who are only interested in the marketplace aren't directed at you are they? Nor will the meagre post count requirements stop you personally accessing the marketplace. You don't know me. Don't you dare assume. Mainly, I don't like being falsely accused. Perhaps you've not been following my desk build project log? Perhaps you don't care. Perhaps you think a hundred posts debating the merits of the Israel war are more of a contribution. I don't recall how long ago my last MM transaction was, but it was quite some time, but the total being no more than 10.
But you know what? None of that matters does it? You've made up your mind. The facts don't matter any more. You don't want me here. So be it. I'm gone.
