Changes coming to Amazon Prime

Awesome service, on the very rare occasion (twice for me) they fail to make a delivery just call them up and explain your frustration each time I've been refunded my monthly charge.

I'm a huge fan

Ditto, Saturday and Sunday deliveries are awesome. The only thing I'm less keen on is that they've moved from Royal Mail & DPD to their own sub-contractors for delivery in my area (Amazon Logistics). Whilst I've not had a problem with them, I like the 1hr time slot given out by DPD.

Amazon Logistics mean I can no longer order to my work place. 3 orders in a row have never been delivered.

Even though I've set my work delivery address to commercial they will not deliver during normal working hours (believe logistics go up to 9pm). In fact, every single time they don't even collect from the depot till midday which makes a 5pm target difficult.

Complete pain but may have to switch to lockers in order to actually receive items. Randomly, they also alternate between Yodel who are actually faultless in comparison!

Hmm...guess so. Doesn't really make sense for us to have separate accounts on there I supppose. Only time I should really need to use my own account is if I'm buying her a gift from there.

I've done it for the last year to make use of the prime I paid for and didn't really want all the features of. There was my wife, her man / brother and myself using one account and different cards/addresses. For presents just set up a second account and pay for delivery :)

A warning to anyone who has cancelled their amazon prime, you need to read this...

Last year (as detailed earlier in this thread) I cancelled my prime membership because the £79 is a joke (for me and my usage). I continued to use Amazon for bits and bobs as I had a year of membership to make use of.

Earlier this month, my membership came to an end. A nice surprise...

... well, if you call seeing a £79 amazon prime charge on your bank statement a surprise!! I have managed to get a refund but only through very good timing. I am literally disgusted by their tactics.

I got straight on to their online chat service and asked them to look in to it. While they were doing so, I looked for any orders around the date of renewal to check I hadn't been tricked in to selecting a prime delivery option and signing up to another 12 months service, I hadn't.

They agreed to refund £30 until I pointed out that I hadn't actually asked for or ordered prime, in fact I cancelled it 12 months ago. Eventually they agreed to refund the £79.

Then I go an email....

Is this even legal? I suspect not.

TL-DR

I cancelled amazon prime 12 months ago with 12 months of membership paid in advance. At the end of the 12 months, amazon gave me 30 free days of prime membership and because I didn't cancel this 30 day free trial I knew nothing about, they signed me up to another 12 months of prime at £79

Be warned!

Why do people still not get this? Every company you take a subscription with that asks for a credit card at the trial stage is gonna keep billing you after the trial ends. Unless you cancel. It's not rocket science.

No offence but if you're going to shoot my post down, at least read it properly.

Just in case you missed the two times I mentioned it:

I didn't sign up to or agree anything to do with a 30 day trial

Had I not noticed the £79 being taken from my debit card I would have had no idea, as far as I was concerned I cancelled 12 months ago. That should have been the end of it. I didn't ask for, agree to or use the prime trial.

There's nothing in my inbox or junk mail and nothing in my account on amazon either. They have agreed to refund me though so they must know they were trying it on otherwise they'd have just said tough luck.

Of course you agreed to it, just like everyone else who makes the same mistake. And most get a refund if they can be bothered.

If they were auto signing people up, there would be millions of stories. But it's not its several thousand every year who tick a box with out reading or similar.

Wind your neck in people ;) I am not a moron, I would know if I agreed to a trial. There has been zero activity on amazon for over 2 months, not sure why I'm explaining myself to rude people though, jog on.

My wife accidentally triggered the trial a couple months ago (because, they make it VERY easy for you to do that!) luckily we share a single account (like on paypal)...

I tried the 'prime' delivery but frankly, most of the better priced items are NOT on prime; I still managed to do an order with 3 items 'next day' and they arrived in 3 different shipments, over 4 days! I wasn't terribly impressed, especially since they have 'prime' delivery for stuff which (secretly) comes from oversea, so you realise it's /impossible/ to get them next day.

Next was the streaming.. I thought it was pathetic in comparison to a (not very rich) UK netflix. If only there was the 'radio' music streaming they have in the US, but nope.

Anyway, cancelled on the last day, now we're getting spammed again to 'try prime'.

When I order at work there is a 50/50 chance it gets delivered to another company half mile away. Just because both our companies have the word Gaming in it.

Tried Prime hoping it would be DPD delivering but no, it's the same numpties as normal.

These days, I will always look else where before ordering stuff from Amazon.
I would pay extra to be guaranteed a DPD delivery.

Well I renewed Prime at the recent £59 offer as there were a few TV series I fancied watching and use Amazon a lot. Today they seem to have thrown in a streaming music service too. Ok it's not the best selection in the world but as I wasn't expecting it then it's a nice freebie :)

I used the service for a year, and it was exceptional when I did. I don't buy stuff online enough to justify the annual cost though, and can't bring myself to switch from paying £7 a month for Netflix to whacking £80 down up front.

If you are making multiple purchases a month I can see the appeal, But it's not great value for me, I don't really get what all the fuss is about.

Then again I'm quite happy to wait a week or two for non essential items.

Anyone had the chance to use 2 hour delivery? Theres a smaller selection of amazon things you can see through the prime now app that can currently be delivered in 2 hours.

I've ordered Booze, PS4 games and a couple of hard drives, all within a 2 hour time slot.

It should soon reduce to 1 hour, once they get everything in check.

Anyone else used it?
