Changes coming to Amazon Prime

legal ones?

Kodi is one I've heard is very good.
That depends on how you use it,its open source so some apps/programs could be illegal ,I'm however not a lawye, and dont know the law that well regarding this area and I'm not advising you to do anything .

Was just saying there are alternative options which I'm surprised people don't use .

Kodi is a client. Used to be XBMC. You stream your own videos through it generally. Though I think it probably does have video add ons that probably don't show legit films/TV etc.

Ignorance is not an excuse that will get you out of legal hot water.

streaming from kodi is not legal unless you use a plugin that uses a legit subscription unless its fta tv i guess

Tried to add my friend to the prime membership today but because I've recently been taken off someone else's account I have to wait 180 days!

Seems a bit excessive.

Wil wait to see whether the movies being removed from Netflix this month affects my list too much. If it does then may as well switch to Prime. I hear Netflix are focusing more on their own exclusive series/films.

Is amazon prime in HD at no extra cost btw?

Yup all content plays in HD if your connection can handle it.

Annoyingly I can watch tv shows in HD but films won't stream in HD apparently due to hdcp issues ... I'm using a display port connection so how that's possible I don't know!

Unless you're a student, better take up on that offer soon ;)

£80 certainly isn't bad either, cheaper than paying for both Spotify and Netflix for example.

I will probably become a prime subscriber when they offer it at a discount. £80 isn't bad, but I can be patient.

i belive the usual trick is to order something thats worth like a quid at the last posibile miniute so it doesnt come next day = 1 free month of prime

you can get up to 12 months free a year :p

I've been a prime member for 4-5 years and it is worth it, I was skeptical at first when they introduced videos and increased the price but now with music streaming available (offline too) it is well worth it given the price over a year.

This year I've had about 4 months added on because they failed to deliver next day.

i know its a client you add repos to it to get apps,i never said i used it,as i said before i was merely commenting on why so many were using paying sites when u can get free streams,i also made it very clear i didn't know the law on this subject.

i didn't think it would be legal, its good to get input from people with more knowledge on the subject.

You don't have to be a lawyer to know that if you're watching something for free that you should be paying for, it's illegal.

That's like saying "why are so many people buying things from shops when you can just walk out with them?" Pretty obvious that it's not legal really.

Also, the "free" services are invariably clunky and inconvenient compared to the legal ones. It's much easier to just pay the £7 a month and spend the time you would have spent sourcing shady content on something else (like actually watching films...)

This is a good one:

Subscribers can now download movies and TV episodes to iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets and Fire devices at no additional charge:

About time!

Great news I found it really annoying when looking (not that long ago) to download stuff onto my ipad to watch on the train and finding I wasn't able to.
Although NetFlix arguably has the best library their lack of downloads is a deal-breaker for me as I want to be able to watch on the move.

As for the whole free vs paid argument, personally I am quite cash rich / time poor (relative to when I was in my 20s say) so paying modest fees for stuff doesn't bother me.
