Changes coming to Amazon Prime

5% off? Student discount? Never knew that, how you set that up or is it discounted automatically at checkout?

Search for the code after logging into the NUS site, then enter it at checkout. You only have to do it once, automatically gets applied for further eligible purchases.

Remember if you don't need stuff in a hurry you can get some of that back as credit for ebooks ;)

I got about half my total spend on ebooks last year effectively free.

And if you order some thing that doesn't arrive in the 2-free days then complain and get another month for free. Happens once. In a while when there is a big snow storm etc.

We love amazon prime, order 3-5 times a week. Just last Saturday there was some thing I needed for Monday, ordered Saturday evening and got free next day delivery which meant it arrived Sunday morning.

I've used to loads, from amazing music, instant video, free ebooks & of course the free delivery.

I get my value out of it easily by the delivery service alone - the rest just keeps adding to the total value of the service. Even at full price I made the money back in delivery charges in a few months alone. I'd strongly recommend it.

If you can get access to a .edu.uk or a .ac.uk email address you can get Prime as a student. All they do is ask how long your course is (5 years, obviously) and send an email to your education email address with a verification link you need to click. Then you get Prime for £39.

Is there still the £10/£20 minimum spend amount if you have prime? I just had a quick look on there but couldn't find an answer.

You don't always have to spend £20 for free delivery though. I got these for next day....

and they were £1.40.

Today a Fan is coming for my Raspberry Pi 3 and that was less than £4.

I like the Prime membership and using it for a no rush delivery was useful around Crimbo time last year when they doubled the value of credit to £2.

I wish I could tag that offer on to my already running account but mine doesn't come up for renewal until November. Works nicely with my Fire TV as well.

EDIT: Has anyone tried quoting a post whilst using the latest Firefox, it works with Chrome but with FF I don't get the quote.

Not sure if it's a recent thing either, but you can now officially share the benefits of Prime with another adult, or a couple of kids if you have them...

How does this actually work? Is it somehow linked to the other persons account? Also what is actually shared. Is it just the movies and music or can they get free next day delivery aswell.Been thinking for awhile that i would take out a sub when the new show from the Top Gear boys started but may aswell get it while it's 20 squid cheaper.

Edit for Vimes. I just posted from newest FF and quote worked ok for me.

Thanks for that Firefox confirmation. Mine just updated to 47 beta 5 and now it works, forgot that I was on the beta channel. But at least it seems to be working now :)

Everything you need to know is here. I set it up myself the other day using that page. It's pretty much everything that is shared.

Tonight I signed up to the £59 offer for Amazon Prime. I thought it would be good value for money, especially when it comes to delivery prices when I want to order something for less than £20

Unfortunately, the very first thing I tried to order cheesed me off... I was trying to order 6 tubes of moisturiser for the Mrs. Each tube was £3, so the total order was £18*

The item I was trying to order was an 'add on' item. Because of that, Amazon wouldn't let me have free delivery as a 'Prime' member unless I met the £20 mark.

Am I missing the point of Prime? I thought I was paying good money to have, and I quote "When you want it, when you need it Unlimited One-Day Delivery with Amazon Prime"

*Yes I know, I could have added another £2 - £3 to the order to qualify for free delivery, but why should I need to?

Add on items are not cost effective to send, that's why they're add-on only. There is only the slightest of profit on them.

As you said though, you could make the order up over £20, you've already ordered 6, 1 more won't hurt. ;)
