Changes coming to Amazon Prime

Should I feel bad for not tipping Prime Now delivery drivers? Made my first order via the app tonight with the 2 hour free delivery slot. Just waiting for them to arrive but, this got me wondering about tips.

I removed my tip on the basis I disagree with the way Amazon have implemented this. You wouldn't tip bad service anywhere else, so why would you tip beforehand? If the delivery driver isn't very pleasant, you can't remove the tip. It would be nice to be able to add tips after delivery though.

What do you do?

Lol what, is this a new feature then at checkout just as an option for prime users?

Yes, it's for Prime members.

It's not available in all areas yet but basically, it's same day delivery. You can get delivery within one hour for 6.99 or its free if you choose delivery within 2 hours. Only available through the Prime Now app.

Amazon automatically add a tip to the order. You can increase or decrease this, or simply just remove it completely.

Because it's done in America, they have just copy and pasted the same method to UK. Even though we don't usually give tips.

lol thats a bit strange

I'd never tip a delivery driver unless they did something really out of the ordinary

That's my point. I don't like tipping unless they deserve it. Sure the super fast delivery is really nice and the drivers don't get to see who leaves tips. They aren't allowed to accept tips as cash at the door though.

I'd see it that the 6.99 I've paid for the delivery is the compensation for the super fast delivery

Well mine was free delivery as 1 hour delivery isn't available for my area. Just received delivery though and the delivery chap was nice. Ordered at 18:40 and just had delivery at 20:32. I'm pretty impressed with this service.

Would feel bad though if the delivery drivers are receiving peanuts from this.

I dont tip using Prime now either. I dont agree with having to pay extra for someone doing their job that they are already getting paid for. I dont tip take away delivery drivers either. You never dream of tipping a regular courier so why is this different. I think Amazon have got a cheek to ask actually. All I can think is they use it to make their pitiful wages easier on the employee.

The only things I tip for are good waiters as that is very much an expected thing. I dont understand people who tip barbers or taxi drivers either.

Delivering when they say... :p

I used to be very very sceptical about amazon logistics

but I've had about 25+ deliveries this year all from amazon logistics - and only had issue with one - which was lost somewhere between amazon itself and the depot

all others have been on time and no issues at all - I've genuinely been very impressed

<yes I buy nearly everything from amazon ! .... broke toilet handle earlier - found a plumbing shop that had it - as a joke searched for it on amazon and one of the plumbing shops also sold through amazon ... its now coming tomorrow :) >
