Chatgpt - Seriously good potential (or just some Internet fun)

Video is starting to get insanely good now. Combine with some script writing and audio engineering it really is opening up a new world to creatives on a limited budget

This was made with Runway Gen3 Alpha

wondered if Kier Starmer could appoint paid ministerial positions to ai reconstructed virtual personalities Clement Attlee ?

We've come a long way from the take a still image and make it look like it has a bit of camera movement around it though, or making the lips and facial expression of a face in a photo move.

It's getting to a stage where it's possible to maintain stylistic consistencies between shots too, which is key to creating a cohesive narrative and style to a short (or longer) film

AI at it's best Big brother watching (the forum)

HMRC tax robots are checking people's summer holiday photos in a crackdown. Experts are warning social media users to think twice before flaunting their wealth online because HMRC could decide a luxury lifestyle doesn't tally with how much tax people declare.

Tax barrister Andy Wood has warned: “Even your public social media posts are being scrutinised, as they can provide evidence of suspected financial discrepancies.” He went on: “This includes posts, photos, and videos that may suggest a lifestyle inconsistent with reported income or assets, evidence which can trigger investigations into your finances."

"Frequent posts about luxury holidays and expensive purchases by someone reporting minimal income can raise some red flags,” Wood said. "Make sure it aligns with your financial declarations to help prevent misunderstandings and potential investigations," Wood said.

Getting some good use out of Chat GPT when I find something isn't working with my excel code, or if I'm trying to find a function that I can describe but can't find the name for.

Haven't tried the new feature of uploading files yet though, has anyone tried that feature yet?

I haven't tried any of the other models yet

Wall street/USA calling it as over-hyped fun then - nvidia shares down 7%,

notwithstanding HMRC system

HMRC’s machine learning system now plays central role in identifying tax investigation targets.

HMRC has revealed that there are now 55 billion items of data relating to taxpayers in its ‘Connect’ AI system, which it uses to target taxpayers for tax investigations.

HMRC’s ‘Connect’ is an AI system that uses data from a wide range of sources to identify potential cases of tax evasion and avoidance. It is used by HMRC to select individuals and businesses for further tax investigations. The database has now grown to 6100 gigabytes of taxpayer data.

Connect allows HMRC to quickly analyse information that would previously have required a huge amount of time and human resources.

Examples of what Connect can do:

Cross-check property ownership data from the Land Registry, client lists from estate agents and online property rental ads against tax returns. This will reveal a list of buy-to-let landlords who might be underpaying tax on their rental income
Cross check overseas bank accounts and investment accounts against tax returns which will identify taxpayers who might be under declaring investment income or capital gains

The system gets data from numerous sources, including:

Web browsing and email records
Social media
Flight sales and passenger information
DVLA records
E-retail platforms
Individual and corporate tax returns
The Land Registry
Online property rental platforms
UK Border Agency
Bank and credit card records

I don't whether the bog standard google is using 'AI' (vs orion) but I'd like to be able to block these stupid questions and answers it often suggests in search results,
FFS I know what I'm looking for and don't want to waste time scanning irrelevant responses , or sponsored replies

****, I'm probably going to be targeted now because I googled HMRC connect on my main google account. It's now in my search history and also being ingested by HMRC Connect.

I've cooked boys. Nice knowing you! :(

Yes, I’ve uploaded an entire module to it, asked it to observe how the module handles xyz and then asked it to help me finish the one I was writing which served a similar but different function. It failed but had an okish idea of what was going on.

For individual files of code or data, it should be absolutely fine.

Just to add, my experience with chatgpt so far has been mostly excellent. I ask it things almost daily, its great for random bits of knowledge like historical events.

In terms of professional uses, it can write code pretty well but lacks what I’d call out of the box thinking and creativity.

I mostly work with the ecommerce platform Magento which can break in weird and complicated ways and its often quicker for me to Google or read docs rather use chatgpt as beyond giving a high level overview of what the error is(I can read myself) it just doesn’t get it. As above, I’ve also battled for days with integrations that chatgpt simply can’t help with, my time is mostly better spent reading documentation.

On the whole, it’s incredible how far we’ve come but it’s not going to replace me anytime soon.

@shifty_uk I think it's because it has a fairly "Narrow Intelligence" as it seems to be called. I found this an interesting watch :

As for ChatGPT I've been using it so heavily lately i keep using up all the free allowances each day , trying to get it to do ever more complex tasks.

I think LLM's like ChatGPT 4o are amazing, so glad I am alive to see them created, develop and blossom. They've helped me immensely in turning an idea I had for a VR app into an actual product I have on Patreon with paying members. Couldn't have done it without ChatGPT, or maybe I could but would have taken much much longer and probably would have given up. I use it less than I did in the early days but still find it very useful when I need help.

Just signed up to ChatGPT 4o. Lets see how it works out for my current job.

Moving stuff into Azure from the 3rd party provider. Need some Powershell scripts to clean up the old infrastructure.

Your prompts are so important. Give as much detail as you can but make sure it's clear, it makes sense, and there are no contradictions. I sometimes find if I have a bigger request it's best to ask gpt about it in smaller refined steps instead of just in 1 go, let it iterate the solution.

Still waiting to see some serious analysis of what local AI processing the new iphone can offer, it seems to be limited to image component recognition somewhat in the realm of what is performed in the tesla cars ?
for remote processing yes you can encrypt&send arbitrary emails/pictures up into the cloud for processing, but that's not new.
(yes I know there was some limited discussion of new iphone in apple forum),

A less worse article I read https://www.techradar.com/computing/artificial-intelligence/apple-intelligence-explained
