Cheap broadband

I don’t work in sales and never have, although if someone does need to call in to order for some reason then whoever takes the call will likely get some commission for it.

Other company referrals are banned because it quickly descended into people posting their referral codes for all and sundry and those codes are customer referral codes. While there are customer referral codes (or used to be, I think it was £50 prepaid Mastercard each but that was 3+ years ago) I can offer these codes because they’re only available to staff members.
Everyone sells. Whether your job title is in sales or not you sold @koolpc a Sky contract. Sky are not giving you unlimited discount codes because they’re a charity. They do it because you sell Sky contracts. And you’ve not unequivocally said that you’ve not benefitted, directly or indirectly, from offering these codes out on OcUK.

It was my choice to go with Sky, having done some research on here and on the net.

MissChief didnt come on my thread advertising discount codes.

I think it best to let this be now.

Although slightly biased I'm very happy with my Sky FTTC. Looking at my Router stats System Up time is 1245:45:07 or 1245hours. That's 51 days without interruption. And I think that might even have been my resetting the Router for some reason.

I'm lucky enough to be around 150 metres from my cabinet and have a sync speed of 79,987 Down and 20,000 up.

I have a friends and family offer for Sky FTTC for £23pm which I'm happy to pass on @koolpc if you're interested. Let me know by starting a conversation.
Now joined Sky...

£23 a month........

Many thanks @MissChief

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you guys - referrals are permitted but only when requested by someone. We don't want to see repeats of people spamming their referrals on the forums or over PM otherwise suspensions and forum access removal will be considered.

So please, by all means use this thread for referrals but only if someone asks for one. Likewise, please don't sit on threads and jump on the referrals as soon as someone requests one, as you'll be seen to be abusing it!

On topic - I'm looking at leaving BT (about 50-60 speed). I only have FTTC where I am.
Need to have land line and unlimited calls any time.

I'm thinking Plusnet but anyone have other ideas? No cable down here in deepest south west.

Something like Zen with digital voice - do I still need to pay line rental to BT?

I'll try again. If it doesn't, Zen isn't going to save me money over BT
Any other recommendations? I'm still leaning towards Plusnet.

Parents are with Shell FTTC cause it was the cheapest at the time, exactly the same performance as the BT line they were paying double the price for.

Friend has Now, as it was the cheapest when she was looking. Had no complaints about the service though the router is a bit too basic for my liking (can't change the DNS for example).

I had plusnet, only complaint was that on single threaded downloads (e.g. web browser downloads) it capped out at 40mbit/s only reaching 60mbit/s on multithreaded downloads (like steam). Router was also very basic.

I would use this as an opportunity to decouple your voice line from your broadband, so get a brand new service installed on a new copper line, don't place the order as a migration. Once that's up and running you can port your BT number to a VoIP provider like Andrews & Arnold, and then use VoIP handsets or an ATA with your existing phones.

Decide how much you use your phone because the cost of unlimited calls on a mobile is much lower than you can get from a VoIP provider, you could just use the landline number for incoming.

This might not be the correct area but I can repost or you can move the post to somewhere else. Can I ask a question in regards to these things where I’ve seen an increase of people asking others to “chip in” for sharing stuff, I.E Nintendo family packs over a year, or Spotify family sharing etc. Is this actually allowed? These kinds of sharing is supposed to be for families under one household. It’s increasing on these forums and would like clarification. Thanks

That's actually something I need to add to the rules but we have been speaking about it. Spotify family sharing is not allowed because under their own T&Cs it says all users must be in the same household.
The Nintendo family pack doesn't specifically state where members need to reside, so we've allowed them.

That’s good to know ☺️

A defined list of what’s allowed would be great. (If it’s not on the list, it’s not allowed).

cheers!
