cheap pet?

Cockatiel!

If you buy one as a chick then it will be properly house trained as it grows.

I trained mine to loot money:

Bought him for £45 when he was only about 2 weeks old.

+1,

you can get them cheaper from private advertised breeders, check your local paper.

I'm pestering SWAMBO for another but she disapproves beacause they're pretty dusty.

my mum won a goldfish from a fare once. the damn thing outgrew three tanks before we had to give it to a friend of ours with a pond.

i know they arent supposed to outgrow tanks, but this one obviously wasnt told that

gold fish arnt ment to be kept in tanks they need a pond and live for like 20 years...unless kept in a tank.

Rats make the best cheap pets IME. I've tried most, and always had the best luck with rats.

-Guinea pigs don't do anything (and my main reason for thinking guinea pigs are a no-no is that they are so petrified of everything that you can touch their eyeballs before they blink)

I'd say that is so not true, my boys run to greet me, wheeking all the way.

They don't chew anything and never bite.

No pets are cheap.

Yeah, anyone can have kids but god help them if they buy the wrong pet. Personally i disagree with the whole concept, (kids and pets), but when a dog has the same eco-footprint as a family saloon it's becoming increasingly selfish of people to own them.

You're never going to make me feel guilty about my dog's eco footprint. It's a living animal for christ's sake. If you're going to take a dig at pets, take a minute to think about YOUR eco footprint, you're probably much worse.
