Cheapest UK 4G and 5G Unlimited Mobile Data Plans Compared – 2024

Something is wrong.
Smarty SIM installed
Three map coverage says I have 5G
My speed test says 5 meg download :(

I've been to another area tonight that is on that map and only got 4 meg download.
My phone is a Sony Xperia 5ii which is 5G compatible.

Your map says you can get (sketchy) 5G outdoors at best :)

But these maps aren't terribly accurate, especially in built up areas

I'm in a place called Blythe Bridge 4 miles from my house. The phone says 4G+ but Speedtest downloads at 301 meg.
I'm a bit pee'd off.

Does anybody know a good 5G speedtest that uses way less than 520 meg to do a test?

I'm now with Smarty. Unlimited everything for £20 a month. Was on EE 3g but they're getting rid of 3g in December.
It's not too bad, my Xiaomi 8t only supports 4g and it's good enough for Skype calls and as I work from home the 50gb is very close to maximum.
So gone for max for £20. Could do with a 5g phone to take full advantage but when I can afford it...

Didn't think this was even possible - mast is 4.67miles away, signal strength 75%, RSRP -100dBm, RSRQ -9dB, SNR 19.4dB. The buffer bloat is kind of disgusting but the latency is actually pretty decent - solid 30ms in DOS. That mast does 5G as well but at this distance probably not going to achieve much.

When connected to the usual mast which is 1.6 miles I get a pretty consistent 26ms latency - if it had 5G support might be more of a benefit.

and supports Wifi calling and volte
wifi calling seems debatable, from first comment in hotuk,
but , as a cheaper way into Vodaphone (we have a poor O2 reception at home - they are apparently better) looks like an interesting option to try for 6 months.

I had WiFi calling on my P20 Pro, but will not work with same SIM in my Realme 9 Pro plus - have tried to get them to help, without joy & their IMEI checked for VoLTE says my phone is not compatible. They seem to have problems with more than Google phones. Still great value, but if wifi or 4G calling are important, maybe test before you port?

Three weeks ago because of 'problems' I decided to shell out £40 on testing 4 different networks so grabbed 4 packs off a shop wall for EE, Vodafone, O2 and Smarty (Three).
My EE deal is awful but ends in December but they are so expensive, I was paying £10 for 2gb on 4G :(
Anyway going through the different networks EE was the best but going to be expensive, O2 was awful, Smarty (Three) was average but Vodafone was my second choice and I decided I was going to ring EE up to cancel in December.
To cut a long story short EE offered me 25gb on 5G so I accepted.

Now something to consider if you go abroad is EU Roaming and last week I realised that my new EE & Vodafone sims need you to buy Roaming data.
I do know that my wifes Vodafone is EU Roaming but mine wasn't probably because it was a sim bought off a shop wall.
I popped my Smarty Sim in to replace the Vodafone and then had 50gb roaming data because it comes as standard.
No idea about O2.

Anyway, I'm very happy that around 3 times a year I just put £10 on the Smarty Sim to keep me going while abroad.

Looks like issues with android. No reports of iOS Wi-Fi calling not working.

Discount applies at checkout. I’ve ordered 3 :)

I got the Lebara 6 months deal Lebara 12GB of data of deal a few months ago, I am paying the extortionate price of £1.40 per month instead of the normal £6.90 per month price. I will PAC out in January to Asda mobile for a week and then back onto another Lebara 6 month deal hopefully.

Excellent! How’s its been with Lebara? Liking it ? No issues ? Ive not used them before.

Apparently you can have 4 sims per account. Which is handy.
