Cheapest UK 4G and 5G Unlimited Mobile Data Plans Compared – 2024

Excellent! How’s its been with Lebara? Liking it ? No issues ? Ive not used them before.

Apparently you can have 4 sims per account. Which is handy.
We currently have 2 sims running, I PAC’ed my wife’s number to them in January this year with no issues.

I have my lebara sim in my backup phone, no issues so far and I get a decent 5G signal as well. They have recently introduced Wi-Fi calling and also VoLTE on Lebara sims which is great if your phone supports those features.

wifi calling seems debatable, from first comment in hotuk,
but , as a cheaper way into Vodaphone (we have a poor O2 reception at home - they are apparently better) looks like an interesting option to try for 6 months.

I had WiFi calling on my P20 Pro, but will not work with same SIM in my Realme 9 Pro plus - have tried to get them to help, without joy & their IMEI checked for VoLTE says my phone is not compatible. They seem to have problems with more than Google phones. Still great value, but if wifi or 4G calling are important, maybe test before you port?
Just to clear up any confusion, I’ve tested Wifi calling on a redmi note 10 pro and it works fine with Lebara

I came across a cracking site yesterday when I was deciding on a new Sim - https://www.simsherpa.com
Well I thought it was.
Ended up with VOXI (Vodafone) 45gb 5G £10.
Voxi's BF deals were pretty poor this year

the standout one for me was the Talkmobile one (also owned by Vodafone, like Voxi)

Bare in mind, all voxi promotional deals last 24 months, then it reverts to none promotional price (still 30 day contracts though)

However doing a comparison between Vodafone, VOXI and Talkmobile on that site, Talkmobile fell behind on a few things so I opted for the 45gb VOXI instead of 70gb Talkmobile.
If the VOXI goes back to 15gb that is way more than enough for me, all I wanted was 10gb from EE but they are complete ..............
And of course I can look for a better deal if I want at any time I want.

I've got a stupid question regarding upgrades which probably doesn't merit a new thread.

My Vodafone contract came to an end in a way which coincided with Black Friday, so I "upgraded" my £50 p/m contract (it came with a phone) to an £11.75 unlimited contract via mobiles.co.uk, still on Vodafone. This deal: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/vo...24-month-total-ps28200-at-mobilescouk-4037040

Mobiles.co.uk have now sent me a new SIM. My old one still works, and Vodafone have sent me a text thanking me for staying with them and upgrading, so presumably I don't need to put the new SIM in and can just keep going as usual?

Thanks!

did you enter your phone number when ordering from mobiles.co.uk for the upgrade?

Well about an hour ago I buggered VOXI off.
For 3 days I've had no mobile data which happened when my latest £10 was taken out of the bank.
For 3 days I've tried to make contact with them and only got an answer about 2 hours ago on Twitter.
I have tried sims by EE, Three and Vodafone and they all work immediately, I've also tried every suggestion to get my VOXI to work with no luck.
Anyway, there were things I didn't like about VOXI and wished I'd gone with Smarty so I renewed my Smarty and I now get 50gb for £10 with EU Roaming.
Transferred my number over and then I finally get a reply off VOXI but told them it's too late.
Smarty (Three) is also way faster than Vodafone where I live.

Fair play. Not one provider is the best these days. So it’s whatever works for you and the area you’re in.

Do sim only contracts still have 14 day cooling of periods?

No idea but I Know Vodafone, Three, EE and O2 (and all their aliases) are only for a month if you go the PAYG route.
Like I said above, I used Smarty (Three) a couple of times and then decided to start using them permanent - 50gb for £10 and I can cancel anytime.

Do MVNO's have the same speeds as their parent companies? I'm pretty sure when I had Smarty about 2 years ago, download speeds were slower than 3.

Couldn't say for sure, but my girlfriend has previously been with 3 where we live now, and having switched to ID, we're both having some data connectivity issues which she never encountered before.

The problem is that our devices (both iPhones, one a 13 on iOS 15, the other a 14PM on iOS 16) will say there's 1-5 bars of 4G but it won't load anything. If you let a webpage try and load for 5-10 seconds, it will finally connect and then everything loads fine, with speeds of up to 70 Mb.

She never had this problem with 3, but she did have a different phone at the time.
