I've been looking at the Piloti shoes - the G16 and Monaco - and was wondering if anyone has a pair and can offer any opinions? Also, a name of a place in the UK that actually sells them would be a bonus too!

Thanks in advance.

i got myself a pair of the G16 Piloti shoes after they were mentioned on here a couple months back.

ended up emailing them in California and talked to one of their sales managers, they have no resellers in the UK currently so i paid by credit card and she arranged shipping from the states to me, they were very nice to deal with over email and the shipping took less than a week.

however, final cost including shipping to me was £105 for a pair, plus a nice £25 sting from Mr. Customs & Mr. Excise :(

to wear they're very comfortable, the sole is a little thicker than i'd expected but tey're still thinner than normal trainers and a lot nicer to drive in, they mark up very easily though due to them being partial suede uppers.

all in all, I really like them but the import tax takes them from being expensive shoes to being *very* expensive shoes.. just seeing how long these ones last before i decide wether to buy another pair :)

whats wrong with normal shoes?

personally I have size 13 feet, wearing normal trainers or shoes while driving means that unless the car has acres of foot room and widely spaced pedals i find it hard to not catch my feet on things while driving.

i do know what he means

i usually wair a pair of these

and as you can see, the sole is a good inch thick ! absolutely zero pedal feel. Ive got used to driving in them

when i was learning to drive, i wore my trainers, then got out of the car and changed into the boots. You dont look nearly as much a fool getting out of the car in trainers, than you do in slippers !

lol, you're all nuts. I just drive in whatever I'm wearing - makes no difference whatsoever.

My wife on the other hand has to have a spare pair of driving shoes in the car cos she generally wears high heels - is there something you lads arent telling us? ;)

Yeh, I have to make my wife take a pair of trainers when we go out and I,m drinking because the shoes she weras raise her heel to about seat hight!

The only shoes I avoid are those smooth leather soled smart/ suit ones! If you ever get oil or diesel on the sole when fillin up they are lethal and your foot will just slip of the brake!

Driving shoes?

*cough*freak*cough*

Next you'll be buying string-backed driving gloves.

There's being 'into' cars and there's being a bit sad......see that line behind you? Yep, you've just crossed over :D

Never had any problems driving in anything from walking boots to barefeet.

Second that.. LOL...

No offence, just anyone I've ever seen using driving gloves/shoes in everyday driving has been a total sad act who has no clue about driving..

I can drive in most shoes. I prefer some trainers, but I used to drive to work wearing steel toecap boots, heavy ones as well. You just have to take it into account and get used to it.

Don't get me wrong, I can drive in my shoes and have been for months and months. I just... don't particularly like it.

I don't like not being able to feel the pedals properly and I don't like having my feet slipping all over the place when the soles are wet. I've got other shoes with quite thick soles that are okay, but my Reebok shoes are just horrendous because of the amount of layers between foot and pedal!

I thought I may as well find an alternative that may be a little more entertaining to drive with, that I could still wear to the pub without looking stupid.

Here's a pic of my normal clogs:
It sorta goes something like this

Foot
----------------
Inner sole (I do a lot of fast walking - to work through the city)
Bottom of shoes
Rubber
Foam
Rubber
----------------
Pedal

you dont wear socks?

i was suckered into buying a pair of pirelli leather driving shoes a while back, 200 quid. . . . . . . . but they also double as a pair of mighty fine suit shoes so I wear them for meetings :)

I prefer shoes to drive in - thinner sole than on my trainers. I can drive in whatever I have on my feet pretty much though (not tried flip flops...). Ironically, I own a pair of Adidas Tuscany GTs - which are supposed to be race driving shoes.

Driving shoes???

I can drive in my rockports fine. (no i'm not a chav).

I can't drive properly in my nike tn's. It just doesn't feel right, the trainers are too squidgy and wide!!!

As for wearing slippers........wtf!! :D

I'm a size 10 btw if that makes any difference
rockports and nike tn's and not a chav??????????????????????????
ok well i drive in shoes/trainers/wjhatever perfectly fine its not like i am trying to set the perfect lap around the ring or anything so need precision heal n toe braking on my way to tescos to buy a loaf of bread.
mostly drive in my vans but can drive in my work boots or normal shoes if needed, there is a difference i agree but serious you must look like a right pillock parking up and getting out ya slippers into ya shoes. I would **** my self if i saw that i think "oooo must get out my driving slippers" just a little camp?

Dude, you really aren't helping yourself!

Admitting to wearing slippers when driving a Rover? You'll be telling us next that you wear a kippah when shopping at Aldi! ;) :p
