** CHILDREN IN NEED - "JUST GIVING" MAKE YOUR DONATIONS PLEASE - OcUK **

I've just taken the total to £2,060, although adding gift aid didn't affect the total. Does this mean that the total gift aid has not been added to the total yet? Perhaps one of the OcUK can check the total?

EDIT - just checked, there's £161 worth of gift aid to be added to the total!

Up to 74% then, I s'pose.

HI there

First of all thanks to all those who have contributed to this cause whether it be via OcUK page or direct, its a great cause. :)

Secondly I am ashamed by some of the members here.

Lets just take a look at something here:-

OcUK Staff donations totalling over £1200 out of our own pockets. If we'd not have done this most staff would have never of thought of donating simply because of them not being aware of the event.

OcUK using its own marketing spaces - Banner on homepage, banner on forums, we even E-shotted this on our weekly deals. Might I remind you our banners and E-shot are used for pushing products we sell which make us profit. We've put selling of products to one side and given that exposure to getting the message across to as many of our customers as possible to donate. Here you can clearly see our E-shot:-

Any product placed on this mailer see's a massive upturn in sales, but we used this space to get the message out there to get people donating.

The facts are we've raised over £2000, which is £2000 going to UK kids which they'd not have got if we'd have done nothing. It is shocking how some people can complain about us trying to raise money and trying to suggest Spie should donate his car, what a joke. People should not preach such crap if they are not will to do as they suggest themselves.

So thank you to all those who donated whether via the justgiving or directly, it all adds up and is what counts. :)

Yeah I don't know why they don't include the Gift Aid contributions in the running total. There must be a reason.. perhaps because it has not yet been received and technically the Gift Aid pledge might not be exercised if something doesn't check out?

I don't think it was about donating being compulsory as that is not the case at all, I think it was the main issue of members on here being disrespectful to OcUK and to charities in general and this thread had to be moderated strictly which is a shame really considering when we are trying to promote and generate as much money to the good cause.

Fair enough.

It angered me to see members criticising Spie/Overclockers on forums paid for by Spie/Overclockers.
If I hadn't seen this thread, I wouldn't have donated to a worthy charity.

Gibbo, it was me whom suggest Spie donated his car but it was also clearly stated that I was joking.

That said, I felt I made a suitable donation in turn.

EDIT;

Sorry, I have noticed someone else told him to sell it and donate the cost. Was it this chap you were referring too?
