China's Olympic Impression

I must admit that on the day, it did not look like she was singing, so we did wonder...............

The footprint thing was a great idea and the one that was seen over the stadium did look different from the others. I hope that they were done for real and not computer generated.

All in all, I'm still dreading what we'll be showing in 4 years time.

We really can't be slamming China's olympics effort when it's pretty much a dead cert that our own show in four years' time is going to be abysmal.

i didnt think she was singing anyway, it didnt really look right. not that i care, they put on an immense show regardless :)

It will be if everybody says it will be, I think we're quite capable of putting on an awesome show.

We are British and definitely capable of putting on an awesome show, it's just that those in control of it couldn't possibly be more inept and rubbish with the budget and designs.

Who cares about the opening ceremony? The Olympics is about the sport right?

So now we've had faked fireworks, hired spectators to cover up empty seats, and mini-Milli Vanilli - has the Chinese organising committee lost face yet?

I mean just look at our olympic design O_O and think some guy got paid a **** load to design that piece of garbage

Tbh. For a nation with so much architectural heritage, our stadium is a complete disappointment for me. Also considering that concept art usually looks more stunning than the real thing, this is not looking spectacular.

I'm sure a lot of it is down to the costs involved: iirc our stadium above will cost £500m (it's so going to be higher nearer the time of completion)- £500m for a practically temporary stadium. Disgraceful.

Disappointing, but understandable. The Chinese government is pretty fanatical about their country's presentation to the rest of the world.

Plenty of miming in the average music video, btw. I don't hear too many complaints about that.

Yeah I already thought she was miming when I was watching it live anyway! My dad went one step further and thought the drummers in the opening 'scene' were miming that too :p He also couldn't believe that the scroll thing in the middle was really one giant screen and not a projection, took me most of the ceremony to explain that such technology does exist!

We don't want to built a stadium which will look dated in 10 years. The new stadium should look timeless and not be a gimmick.
