Chinese Grand Prix 2010, Shanghai - Race 4/19

Yep all valid points. Looking at that MS lap it looked like a 41 yr old driving and not the MS we know, he wasn't pushing it anywhere near the limit. For once in my life I think MS is actually getting less out of his car then its worth.

Especially with this considered!

Below is a list of cars MS drove, that were new/alien to him:

Jordan (1991) - his team-mate was de cesaris, whom he outscored during the 6 races he was with Jordan. The car was not designed around him and he outgunned his team-mate.

He had one race for Jordan not 6 - Benetton pinched him off EJ straight after the Belgian GP.

Bennetton (1992) - his team-mate was Martin Brundle who was actually very good. MS beat him though, in a car which was alien to him. The first race results were: 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd. Brundle scored 38pts, MS scored 53pts.

Ferrari (1996) - MS finished 3rd in the championship, behind the all-conquering Williams, in a car which once again, was alien to him. He scored 59pts, while Irvine, his team-mate, scored 11pts. (Irvine had a lot of DNF's that season).

Mercedes (2010) - after 4 qualifying sessions, Rosberg leads the qualifying race 4-0, in a car, which is also alien to him. After 3 races, Rosberg leads MS by 35pts to 9pts.

Based on the first 3 races and 4 qualifying sessions, Rosberg is doing to MS, what MS used to do to his team-mates: dominate them.

In fact out of all the new team-mate combinations (Alonso-Massa, Button-Hamilton, Hulkenburg-Barrichello, etc), the biggest disparity seems to be between MS and Rosberg.

See thats not what you originally said though is it, rather than admit only twice you seem to have changed your story, from...

The great quality about (the old) MS and other great drivers is that they are able to extract the maximum out of whatever car they have. In the past, MS has been able to get into a car completely alien to him and in very little time, outperform his team-mate, for whom which the car was designed..

To listing all his team mates regardless that the cars where not designed around them.

Anyway lets go through your list.

Jordan 6 races? You have a different view of history to me. He raced against de cesaris for round 11 of the championship then moved to Benetton to race against Piquet. Both these times the car wouldn't have been designed around him.

He then was paired with brundle but the car wasn't built around brundle either and despite being a good guy brundle was crap. Hes team mates after that where poor at benetton and we all now know despite having suspicions how Flav runs his drivers.

At no time other than his first two cars did MS run in an Alien car designed around a team mate, which is what you orignally said. Which has now changed to a list of all his hand picked patsies.

Fair enough, that was his first year in the sport. He moved to Benetton the race after.

Brundle joined the team at the start of '92. Schumacher had been there since the Italian GP in '91. Remind me again how this proves your point?

Irvine had the best part of sod-all testing before the season started. And even once underway, Schumacher had the lion's share of testing time. Also, look at the DNFs Irvine recorded - how many were down to him, and how many were down to the car breaking?

Don't worry, I'll help you out. Irvine retired ten times in '96. Of those, seven were down to car reliability. So again, this proves your point.....how, exactly?

Mercedes (2010) - after 4 qualifying sessions, Rosberg leads the qualifying race 4-0, in a car, which is also alien to him. After 3 races, Rosberg leads MS by 35pts to 9pts.

And as I said earlier - he's had three years out of the sport, the cars have changed quite a bit. He's said himself that everything is moving ahead just about on-schedule. If you want to second guess a guy with 7 Formula One World Championships to his name then be my guest. I just thing it's terribly premature right now. We're only four races in, for Christ's sake. Haven't even made it to Europe yet.

If its a totally dry race, its difficult to see how anyone is going to beat the RedBull cars. Remember, to overtake, you need to be significantly faster than the car in front (though the long straight may help a little).

Hamilton has shown that in race trim, he is very very quick and overtakes more than anybody - but to overtake a RedBull on a dry track - even for Hamilton, this is maybe, asking a little too much.

If its damp/wet then Hamilton has a good chance, but then so do Alonso, Button or Vettel.

Vettel has to be the outstanding favourite for the race win.

I want to see at some point this year a very very close battle between LH and SV.

I wish for it to be tomorrow :D

I am going to take an unbelievable punt here:

LH for the win tomorrow.

I have a feeling :p that's all!

Are you going to predict this every race until he wins one :p

I actually did predict he'd get pole today, I'm quite surprised how far down he finished. If he doesn't get stuck behind a slow-poke again then he should get a podium, but this really is RBR's to lose. Looking untouchable at the minute and I'm quite amazed they (and Vettel for the WDC) aren't odds-on yet.

Actually, I want a Mercedes win, purely so stupid Webber is forced to eat his words re. their championship challenge being over :p

Just because the mediocre driver is in a quick car, he now thinks he's big dog - chap needs a slice of humble pie!

What did he say about Mercedes?

I'm desperate to see Vettel hassled by a faster car, most keenly with Alonso or Hamilton at the wheel, but Vettel showed last year Button could pressure him into mistakes.

The Red Bull I reckon is further ahead though than Brawn was last year. A fantastic car purely because it works so well no matter what the fuel load is.

I reckon the Mclarens have taken a punt on a wet set up. I also fancy Lewis to feature for the win.
