Chinese Grand Prix 2011, Shanghai International Circuit - Race 3/19

I presume the best circuits are also the older circuits, which also might be paying the least.
He is a businessman and most of his decisions are based purely from a business (monetary) angle.

So its more a case of Red Bull have built a car that is geared towards utilising DRS, which is therefore more beneficial in qualifying.

Would explain why Vettel doesn't just vanish at 0.7 seconds a lap during the race.

True but a lot of it imo has got a lot to do with that fact he cant actually race, he pulled a significant lead out after just the first lap in auz because he was time trialing. Didnt happen that way in china. People have said this before if hes taken down in the first few laps then he will crack.

so with this wing thing, just how much faster are RB then?

is their speed advantage not as great as it first seemed?

Who knows. They seem to compromise race pace, to get extra qaulifying pace, they are still faster, which is why I don't understand. They don't need to do it.

The only reason I can think of, is if they have so much front out down force they that at the rear for balance.

Could it be that they are playing to Vettel's strengths?

We all know that if Vettel can lead from the front and time trial, he can easily win. This is his strength.

Conversely, put Vettel amongst traffic and he tends to get bogged down and is unable to perform anywhere near the same level as when he is time trialling.

To this end, RBR believe that if they can get him on pole, this will give Vettel the best chance of maximising his points total. Unfortunately, this means that Vettel's race pace is compromised, but as long as he is on pole, RBR are happy to take the race performance hit.

Could this be the reason?

Talk of DRS being banned at Monaco. Bloody hope so.

Besides, it hardly worked in Melbourne so has no chance around the streets of Monaco.

I doubt that DRS would make any difference at Monaco. Whether it is banned or permitted...it shouldn't make any difference to the viewer.

This. Its more a case of there being absolutely nowhere around Monaco where the DRS would be effective rather than it not working.

I wonder if they will remove it completely or just for the race and keep the free for all during qualifying?

Believe they're doing it on grounds of safety. It would still have had an effect during qualifying going through the tunnel etc...

Completely afaik as it could be quite dangerous with all the bumps and already fine margins.

At Monaco, I don't believe that RBR's car advantage would be that spectacular, with or without DRS. Last year, up until Alonso crashed, he was dominating the weekend, in a car which was far from being the best.

I'm a huge fan of DRS and even I would suggest that it not be used at Monaco as it is unlikely to make any difference to the racing spectacle on that particular circuit.
