Chinese Grand Prix 2012, Shanghai - Race 3/20

Have to say it's so refreshing so far as opposed to the domination of last season.

It's set up for an exciting race tomorrow, we have seen that the Sauber is quick and that Kobayashi is more than willing to mix it up and who knows what Raikkonen can do from 4th... I'm excited for tomorrow!

Ooops! Guess who forgot to set an alarm and slept through qualy!

All I have to say though is Bwahaha Vettel! :D

Must. Set. Alarm. For. Race.

Well done Rosberg, absolutely nailed that lap

In one sense I am hoping that Merc have sorted out their tyre issues also (would make for a better race) but I somehow think that might not be the case

Button will be relieved that LH is a row behind him, although the temps dropping does disguise the time difference between them.

Have a feeling Kobi might get away better than Kimi, , wouldnt be at all surprised if JB & LH were 3rd & 4th by the end of the 1st lap (not any particular order between them though)

Given the closeness of the grid this season, points for the midfield teams could well be even more crucial than normal, Im wondering if this might lead Lotus / Sauber to ask their drivers not to push too hard at the very start (given how much chaos usually occurs) and to stay out of trouble - to hopefully get more safely through the first few laps....

edit - didnt Rosberg gain 3/10th's in the last section on his only lap? It wasnt all down to the middle section at all imo (he did astoungingly well none-the less, but a healthy amount of benefit was down to the ddrs in the final section)

Bit gutted Force India are doing rubbish. Expected more of them and was wanting to see how Di Resta would get on in a decent car.

Should be a great race tomorrow, it is nice to see no single car dominating.

Hmm, will BBC stream the race live online? I might be able to watch a race live for the first time this year if so. (I don't have Sky)

I thought button got 6th and Hamilton dropped to 7th.

as stated earlier in thread, they dont leave a hole in the grid where Lewis was, so everyone in those 5 places moves up a place (otherwise if you think about it, when a penalty occurs, everyone behind his new position loses a place too - which would be unfair when considering clean / dirty side of some tracks etc etc)

Yeah I was really expecting/hoping Force India would be up where Sauber would be this season.

This could make schumi look really bad. Not going to help Hamilton either. Then again, the Mercedes will fall back during the race.

The only passing place where Merc are going to 'blow everyone away' is the DRS zone, and the Sauber is faster than the Merc through that speed trap anyway.

I don't know where you lot get this from that Merc will be going backwards.

We've seen from the first two races that they have been compromised, Schumacher in particular by being hit by others.

Paul Henry of Pirelli stated that if it had remained dry in Malaysia then Merc would have been on the podium.

If the conditions are right they'll be as fast as anyone out there.

I fully expect Schumacher to have the legs on Rosberg though.

rosberg changed setup at the last minute to a setup that gets more heat into the tyres so if its a cold/wet race he will have an advantage but if its not hes probably going to have tyre issues

Can watch the BBC channels live on their website or on the IPlayer so you should be good.

Why hasn't no one mentioned Kobayashi much? First few corners are going to be great!

Yep the start has the potential to be pretty damn eventful, can't wait :D

OMG IT WAS AMAZING.... THE NOISEEEEEE!!!!!!

We are in Stand H tomorrow on the back row (near end of DRS straight around overtaking point).

Keep an eye out, I'll have a jester hat on and might try and making a scene to get the cameras to notice :p

It nearly started to rain before the Q3, the sky over the pit straight became very dark and it just felt like the heavens were going to open (in the same way it has happened here over the last few days). But alas, it didn't!!!!!!

Still, the race will be 100x better than the time trial that is Qualifying!

hes probably gonna take someone out most likely msc

He's got a better recent record for overtaking than Hamilton :p

I can only see the Sauber going backwards though. And quite quickly too. But it would be interesting if he held up the people behind him for a couple of laps and the Mercs got themselves a few seconds buffer...
