Chinese Grand Prix 2015, Shanghai - Race 3/19

I think it's a pretty hard thing to balance for hamilton. Ultimately he needs to look after number one by preserving his own position whilst also looking out for the teams interest. It's all a bit of handbags tbh and is funny to watch nico have a mini-meltdown over.

Hamilton is loving it and you can tell. Hell I think seb is even enjoying it lol.

I think most are enjoying it, Button's face in the thursday press conference I think it wasn't right after Spa but maybe last race or last few races of the season he said along the lines of if Hamilton drives cleanly it will be a clean race when asked about problems between them on track. Button's face is utterly magic, a complete "how in the **** did you just say that" face. Maybe same press conference they were asking Alonso about who he'd prefer to driver at Mclaren with, Button or Mag, with Button right next to him.

In terms of Hamilton driving for the team, meh. If I was a boss there I'd say, establish a decent gap... if you get to a say 30-50 point gap then prioritise finishing 1-2. Rosberg will likely be his closest title rival over the course of the season and with no sign Merc won't smash the CDC, why does he need to prioritise the team.. at least yet.

I wonder how long it takes for Rosberg to revert to childish on-track tactics, again.

It has the potential to turn in to a classic rivalry, but I think Merc will want to come down hard after the events of last year. This could make the situation all the more interesting, or we could end up with Ferrari (Schumacher era) style team orders being implemented at races.

I'd love one of them to accidentally punt the other off. The Internet may actually explode :D

Again I'd just point out that in Malaysia Rosberg quite clearly blocked Hamilton on a hot lap and came exceptionally close to costing him pole position. Now it turned out to not have much of an effect in the end.... however if say 5 guys had all been on laps and the track had been faster at the end he could have found himself well down and well behind Rosberg.

He's already done dodgy things in only the second race of the season. If Hamilton has an issue and Rosberg has a chance to dive up the inside, he likely will do so with little regard for preserving Hamilton or his own car.

Does Rosbergs contract also expire at the end of the season? Get the other Nico in there. Give him a chance in a big team! He's also German to keep the home fans happy.

Sigh, 'multi-year contract' signed last year apparently. He's going to be there until at least the end of next season. Lewis will love that!

Just seen Rosberg's comments.

If he wants Lewis to speed up he needs to get closer than 2.5s! This would force the issue and the team would tell Lewis to get a move on.

So Lewis was going so slow that Romberg once again couldn't catch him and over take him. Yea... okay NICO, you keep telling yourself that.

It is really funny that when you boil it down what Rosberg is actually saying is "I couldn't beat Hamilton because he was driving too slow".

I offered Evens that he will do it next week in Bahrain. :D :D

Only just watched the race.

For the first part I was like "OMG maldonado doing good!!"... Then normal service resumed with" loldanado retires again". 3 in 3, good lad.

Such a shame for verstappen, but that Austin Powers routine was hilarious :)

Overall a pretty benign race though.

Not the best race for sure, not when compared to Malaysia.

1-6 didn't really do anything of note to make it interesting, it was Verstappen and Maldonado who made the race somewhat watchable.

The kid is some talent, hope he stays on for another season there and then gets his drive for a top team.

He needs to find a way to drive better rather than crying at Hamilton for doing nothing wrong.

Either Nico closes the gap to try and pass or just sits where he is. I dont get why he was so afraid to close the gap to Hamilton only to then cry about him going to slow, if he was fine sitting behind Hamilton why complain about it and just give Vettel the same treatment Hamilton was giving Nico.

Nico is really coming off like such a baby now, he showed class last season after losing out on the title in the last race even though he was cheating mid way through the season to get wins.

Really cant stand his whining attitude.

Lol, remember the arm chair pundits in here kept arguing that Hamilton wasn't mentally strong enough lol.

He isn't, just because Rosberg is broken doesn't change that. Rosberg is terrible, has always been terrible. Still he had Hamilton reverting to crying about it all being over and life was so unfair last year despite Rosberg never ever looking like being able to beat him on pace or wheel to wheel when both ran at the front. Imagine how fast he would fall apart again with an actual team mate who could push him.

Rosberg is now the perfect team mate to keep hamilton happy, broken. Just like Webber after Vettel beat him once.

Where is smr?

Funnily enough I've only just sat down at my PC, short break in the Lake District since Thursday with my family :)

Recorded the race and watched this afternoon, I thought it was quite a boring race, one or two decent little duels though, was enjoying Button racing with Maldonado, nice little battle that was. Also enjoyed Ericson and Ricciardo's fight as well as Vestappen, he sure looks like a promising prospect.

Easy lights to flag cruise for Hamilton so well done to him, nice to see Ferrari in the mix, was hoping to see Kimi battling with Vettel before the SC came out at the end, bad luck to Rosberg, haven't had a proper look at this slow down and had a look at the timings yet but he's clearly frustrated.

Not the greatest race of all time, onto the next.

Hamilton must be loving it knowing Nico is going to be there for the next couple of seasons. Pretty much guaranteed to beat his team mate all the time.

Exactly, Vettel was the same. Couldn't stop smiling once his team mate was a beaten man. When Rosbergs contract talks are up he will do what Alonso did with Massa and talk him up and how valuable he is for the team.

Rosberg shouldn't win a race this year if Hamilton is still running even if he starts from the back.
