why is moyles being booted off radio 1? or is he being moved to another time slot. just finishing my lunch break and by the time I get my last break hopefully someone will fill me in with the juicy goss.

TIA.

Moyles was actually decent on his own, he once filled in on the afternoon slots a few months back and was pretty decent. The mornings though, eurgh, it's horrible, I detest his 'team'. Still, who they replaced him with is worse. I haven't listened to the Radio in months, thank god the car has MP3 connectivity.

Because he's an odious self important waste of space probably :D

Isn't he leaving because he's going to star in a theatre show?

Since finding the joy that is audio books I no longer have to put up with the pap on the radio. I used to like the show but I think I've outgrown it/got old and I can't stand any of the others in the line up either anymore.

That said I would still rather keep Moyles than Grimshaw or the unfunny **** that does the drive home who is seen as the future. Gregg James.

The best shows Moyles did was when he did the marathon shows and was paired with people he wouldn't normally be with, like Mista Jam etc. Moyels now mistakenly thinks he has a tv career.

tbh I was a radio 2 fan. used to listen to wogan etc. I didn't mind moyled but he was a bit much sometimes. although steve wright used to grind my gears.

think he decided to leave. believe he has got some other projects that he wants to pursue

He's going to play Herod in the new Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical. AFAIK, he's not leaving Radio 1, as I believe he's still contracted to them until 2014.

They want to appeal to the younger audience. BBC Radio now no longer targets 24-35 year olds at all. They only target audiences younger and older than that. There is also the fact that he is off to work on other things. As mentioned he's in Jesus Christ Superstar later this year.

I assume one of the other stations will be changed in line, perhaps a shake-up at Radio 2 to bring it newer and reach younger audiences to fill the gap.

Moyles just doesn't fit with the future vision of Radio 1. It's always been the youth they've tried to get at. Unfortunately there isn't anyone of Moyles' calibre on the radio anywhere, so they were never going to get anyone to improve on what they had. At least they didn't go for Greg James.

He has left the breakfast show by 'mutual consent' this was agreed becuase the BBC trust has highlighted that Radio 1 is appealing to an older audience than it's supposed to (current avg 31 years).

His next project is an Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical but as is siad he is still contracted to BBC radio going forward so I would expect his show too pop up somewhere on one of the other stations.

I listened to Moyles up until a year or so ago as I just got bored of him but I listened to him when he did the afternoon drive time show and the stint he did on Capital FM before that. I think he has had a good run but it is time for him to move on.

It's this Friday. I got bored of listening to him a while ago and the lack of music that is being played. I want to listen to the radio to hear music with some filler not, people wittering on with music as the filler. I'm going to make an exception this week and listen to him every day as it could be quite interesting and it is the end of an era.

All of you who wanted Chris out should be ashamed of yourself, now the nation has to put up with that flock of seagulls-esque idiot Nick Grimshaw.

Who actually listens to Radio 1? They're either talking absolute garbage or playing awful songs.

Millions of people watch x-factor too. It's a shame really.

It was okay for 30 mins, most people would listen to less than an hour on average and it was good enough when I didn't want to listen to music in the morning. Some bemoan the lack of music in the morning but I see that as a good thing.
