Christian Bale losing it on set of T4 at the DP

I think Bale is great as Batman, even so far as saying best batman since Keaton (which is all tat hard I know following Kilmer and Clooney). The voice, so what if it sounds a little strange, I'm sure if when he spoke to the people he speaks to as BW they would twig he is Batman, he wears a disguise, he disguises his voice so what.

Also Bale is a good actor, he was brilliant in The Presitige as well.

The voice was like that because that's how it was portreyed in the old comics.

The more emotional Batman got, the deeper the voice (or something) :o

Who actually cares?

Everyone loses their temper sometimes. No doubt there will be people, who have far too much free time, who make a massive deal out of this. The same bunch of ****s that made a fuss about Jonathan Ross. I wish some people would shut up and just accept people make mistakes.

Bail is mu boys idol as Batman , if he ever heard this he would be devastated , this is my issues with it .

Batamn or not he would have that Mike shoved were the sun don't shine if he spoke to me that way / well I would have had a go anyhow.

Why is everyone having a dig at Bale over this ?

He was trying to perform a scene, which is what he is being paid to do. Which by all means is a difficult job to do. Do you think someone like De Niro, Pitt, ect ect would settle for this ? no.
Some lighting guy is messing with the lights / moving on the set.
Bale has every right to lose him temper, and tell the guy to stop it.

Things like this happen everyday, in every jobs, all over the world.
Because it's a "celebrity" somehow it automatically means he's wrong and that things like this shouldn't happen.

but then the same could be said if your boy watched bale have sex? you'd surely have a problem if your son saw bale do that which he obviously must. Bale is human, he does human things, some may be private some may not, you heard a private one and would complain if your boy saw the private thing bale did. imo the thing to complain at is whoever showed your boy that audio clip and not bale for saying it. I told my girlfriend i'd love to **** her brains out tonight, if someone recorded that and then showed it to her mum would that be my fault?

something that makes me smile is how bale is under a lot of pressure and has had someone repeatable ruin his scenes (which apparently were emotional scenes so required a load of work) and distract him so he got angry and you think this is unacceptable. where as you then say if he said shouted and swore at you you'd shove a mike where the sun don't shine or atleast have a go back.

how can you justify what you say you'd do but then have a go at what bale did?

I am totally 100% with Christian Bale here.

People in this thread banging on about him being a prima dona or living in a bubble - what a load of rubbish. You need to stop and think for a second, put this into perspective. In your job what makes you stress out? There will be something, an annoying customer, a different department at work? A subordinate?

I know there are situations at work where someone elses complete incompetence would make me totally lose in the same way and I am generally a very calm person.

When you are a professional and good at your job having people around you that are below par is one thing. Having them below par and actively demonstrating incompetence is enough to make you totally lose your rag.

Someone like Christian Bale has worked very hard to get to where he is, he is not directly in charge of the set but is basically one of the "boss men" (as close to relating it to everyday office culture I can find). He has found a grossly incompetent subordinate doing something stupid not once but twice... totally don't blame him.

Perhaps he was right in having a word with the guy, but whining like he did.. was laughable at best.

If he'd stopped after the first line I wouldn't say so much, but the clip I heard was basically him reiterating the same point over for ~2 minutes.

Once you lose your rag, you can no longer call yourself a professional. No matter how much somebody deserves the bollocking, there is a right way to go about it. I don't believe that was it.. and that is why the media has jumped on him.

He should have had the guy removed by reporting him to the floor manager / unit director / whoever was in charge of staff.

I'm also 100% with Christian Bale. Sure he had to apologise and say stuff like "my actions were inexcusable bla bla bla", but the following article sums up the situation perfectly:

Warning (contains swearies): http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39984

He truly is a brilliant actor IMO and everybody judging him need to STFU

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm getting slammed with assloads of people angry at me for not posting the Bale explosion from the set of McG's TERMINATOR: SALVATION. Well, first off - there's a real simple reason. It isn't news. And it certainly isn't cool news. It is a moment in a man's life taken completely out of context and most likely leaked to personally embarrass Christian Bale.

Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking... There's no excuse for a temper tantrum like that to ever occur and if you are going to act that way, you deserve to be embarrassed by your own actions.

Except, you want to hear the REALITY behind that clip?

I know this because I happen to be somewhere where someone that was there that day and for the shoot is. And this person isn't a publicist, nor are they invested in Bale's career. They're just someone that thinks it is absolute bull**** that this moment in Bale's life is being aired and that the real story should get out there.

The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.

The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that **** down before the scene starts.

Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.

Now, the reason I know all of this is because the person that was there, felt that it should be made perfectly clear that Christian Bale was the utmost gentleman and cool guy on set. And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do. Not during a performance.

You don't need me to give you a link, it's all over the internet, I just felt that you should know what really went down - and that this particular outburst did indeed modify the DP's behavior - and for future DPs. **** with the lights before and after your actors are acting. Not during.

I stay out of the 'personal gossip' arena because frankly... can you imagine your personal **** aired for all to see. None of us are perfect, and certainly we have all sinned to some degree. Actors, Actresses, Celebrities and the people exploited on sites like TMZ. They're human beings that I personally feel are owed the same inalienable rights that the rest of us hold dear.

Can you imagine cameras documenting your every attempted private moment. This moment was something that occurred in the heat of a moment on set between professionals. The audio is so clear on Christian, that it's obvious a mike was on him or a foot and a half above him. These are the sorts of moments that are private affairs. Yet somehow, because he's an actor. We feel it's permissable to air his dirty laundry. It isn't our business. It isn't anybody's ****ing business. Will this affect TERMINATOR SALVATION? Will this give us insight into his character? Only because I found some details out, do we know it was in the midst of a scene between him and Bryce Howard. But that's accidental... and certainly hasn't been revealed by CNN or any other media, because they just run the clip with BEEPS. Is it funny? I suppose it may be. It allows regular people to laugh, point fingers and call someone other than themselves an ***HOLE. But frankly, I find it disgusting. It's the exact thing that I made AICN to not be about. I wrote this, not to create an endless TALKBACK, but to express my opinion on the spreading of stories like this and making Christian look bad, when he isn't.

In your opinion. I disagree, I think people are entitled to their "mad moments" and still be professional. Now coming in every single day and doing that would be another matter entirely, going on the evidence we have he doesn't do this. And considering the Guardian-esq outcry this has caused this is the only time.

Additionally he apologised to the gentlemen in question, IMO that makes him more of a professional than most.

Maybe because the guy that was "messing up his scene" had done this on more then one occasion, just maybe Bale was repeating himself because he was angry at having this "amateur" ruining a very stressful scene.

I have no problem with someone getting a good dressing down for doing something wrong, you hear footballers swear like crazy and argue live on television for their mistakes.

Footballers? are you comparing footballers to actors?
