Chromecast

What do people tend to do for speakers with the Chromecast audio around the house? It sounds like you not only need a plug for some speakers but also for the Chromecast.

Does anyone have some any recommendations for bedroom speakers to go with these for less than £100?

I've used an old AV receiver for one and reasonable quality Logitech speakers for others... Stuff I had in spares cupboard, so no great expenditure for me really... Significantly cheaper than 3 Sonos kits and much more flexible (for me)

I ordered 3 x Chromecast Audios, recieved them last night. Im having an issue with getting it to connect to my network, im using the Virgin superhub 3. Apparently there's an issue with these and the superhub. Does anyone have these and get it to work with superhub 3?

Not much help, but i've just moved into a new house and also got the superhub 3. I've go the older version chromecast too.

I did get it setup and working, after it failed several times. Used it to watch a movie straight afterwards. But then the next time i tried to use it, it wouldn't connect at all, reset it, and now i can't even get it setup again.

I've not really looked into the problem yet, to offer anymore help. But it sounds like it's an issue with the channels it's running on, I don't think the older version works with 5.0Ghz channels.

Yea thats what i understand, i think Chromecast V1 works with 2.4ghz only. a lot of people are saying that even the V2 Chromecast which supports both 2.4 & 5 isnt working either tho.

The problem seems to be with SuperHub 3 as people who have upgraded are finiding themselves not being able to use Cromecast. Some have been successful in downgrading to Superhub 2. Those who do report its working straight away. Its really annoying as the options seem to be.

Return Chromecast audios

Buy new router and use superhub in modem only.

cant you assign a fixed channel for the 2.5ghz on a SH3?

edit: I googled. Seems its a bit more of a faff but there are work arounds. Ultimately sh3 needs a firmware update

can use a superhub 2, virgin seem to be sending these out if you make a fuss. If not i'd be demanding money in my account for hassle, go to twitter!

Does look like anyones nailed a sure fire workaround yet, people report that it seems everytime you finish streaming the next time it tries to connect it doesnt:(

I called Virgin and they said i cant have a SH2 but they did confirm that its working with the latest firmware on the SH3. I asked if i could get the new firmware and was told you can if you are in the testing program, so i asked if i could join the program, they said no. :D

It looks as though I'll have to get one of these.

I've read the blurb about streaming Google play HD movies - if I read it right you cannot stream said HD movies from a PC.

not really a problem as I'll stream from my phone, what I don't understand is I can stream HD onto my 5.25" phone screen, not really going to get much benefit as regards screen size, whereas with my PC I can plug my projector into its HDMI output & stream SD movies onto a 92" screen.

I'm not certain if the BT router is going to be able to handle 2 HD wifi streams at the same time, as in HD stream to my phone, then the chromecast picking up the HD stream from said phone?

Anyone here tried that?

Ive not tried it but i was under the impression you could press the cast button in chrome (on pc) and it streams your screen? someone was saying you can drag and drop and mkv into chrome and it will play it on chromecast?

/\/\/\/\

but it won't stream HD from the PC on any web browser AFAIK. If I could it would render the Chromecast redundant.

Er, once you actually cast, it's only the Chromecast doing the streaming, your phone then stops.

So still only 1 stream.

The phone tells the Chromecast where to look for the stream and it takes over.

Ive just got my Gen 2 CC working on my VM Hub 3, right pain to set up for now.

Not sure if it'll stay working, or if it'll fix anyone's problems here, but this is what I did to get it working.

Gave my 5ghz a different SSID
Connected my phone to the 5ghz, then when using the CC app on the phone, it then connected my CC to the 5ghz network.
This then worked, and have managed to watch a couple 'Flix shows etc.

Hope this helps.

Is it still working? i borrowed a router from work and put the SH3 into modem only mode. Boom it worked first time.

Can anyone tell me if you can use Chromecast to just mirror your phone to any TV with HDMI when there is NO wifi network? As in just a direct stream phone > chromecast > tv?

I have looked online and seen conflicting reports.

Also what is the difference between Chromecast and Miracast?

Basically I need something to mirror my phone to tv but not via both connecting to a WiFi network. Just direct wifi. Only thing stopping me ordering S7E as it has no MHL support.
