Chrysler crossfire

There's one of these parked over the road from me. For reference, I live on a main road in the middle of a town of skag heads and old people.

It moves now and again but not much over the last two years I've lived here. Interestingly it's probably the only car that aint been stolen by "travelers" yet.

Not quite sure what i am supposed to conclude from that?

That they are apparently owned by either idiots or old people (or both), but that they aren't even of interest to people who steal for a living!

Heck, if even the theives leave them alone... :p

If you're buying it for the missus, it'll make a good car for her - unless she likes to compare the finer points of precision cornering and amazing handling, coupled with nimble gear changes and excellence in power delivery.

No, they aren't *that* good but who cares for the money? They look good, drive ok apparently but are for posing rather than thrashing around. £7k for that - buy it if it makes he happy.

It was more than likely bought by someone who thought it was cool but probably can't run it very often, plus they park it on the main road.

That said, for 7k it's worth a punt if you can get a trade deal and flog it on if you end up disagreeing with it.

What is she running around in now?

Exactly my thoughts, the gearbox is a mercedes item so i doubt the gear changes will be either quick or precise, but it really doesnt matter, she drives at 4mph. This is not a thread about whether i should buy it anyway, i do not need others to tell me what cars to buy. The way i see it a car purchase is not something that needs to be considered too deeply, if she doesnt like it then it can be passed on :)

Totally :) currently she has a Porsche Boxster S 987 (2005)

One of my dad's friends had one of these from launch and sang its praises the whole time he had it. He's really into his cars as well, so they cant be that bad. Interior plastics were naff compared to what you might expect, but otherwise it seemed pretty nice.

My sister had one of these, all i remember from it was the awfull interior plastics, the paint/covering was peeling off the heater and stereo controls, looked like someone had sprayed them with non plastic paint and it was rubbing off.

This was a couple of years ago and she doesn't have it now, so idea on reliabilty.

Really badly rated.. I got my parents to avoid making a purchase on one!!!!!

But for a girl and for 7k it's ok.. She might like it.. It's not like she will be looking for the same qualities as a bloke..

Bloke in the office has one. He loves it, but then he's not a big car nut like you guys. His love is that he loves the way it looks, and the way it feels all american etc. I think he likes the way it looks so much that he doesn't care about 0-60 times, handling round corners at 70 or, probably, MPG. I don't think i'd be able to ask him the sort of questions you'd want answered, because he probably doesn't know himself.

Whats the 4 door sedan version of those called?

It must have the most comfortable back seat in any car i have ever sat it:D

You must convince her to get a boxster, very nice cars and older ones won't really loose that much more value. :)

It doesnt really matter how it compares with other things, girls will be girls, she likes it, it fits her reduced budget, therefore she wants one and nothing else is as good in her eyes. And on the value for money thing i cant argue, its a modern (looking) sports car nearly as new as her 987 for 7 grand.

To be honest though i think i may try and convince her to get another (older) boxster. I think she would go for that.

A friend of mine bought one when they were new, and he sold/returned it after 3 months. Hopeless. Stupid ride height, for a start.
