CIMA...... Just got started

I started my Certificate this year and it hasn't gone well so far. Haven't applied myself correctly so will need to give it another go. It's annoying because It all goes in and I get it I just don't apply myself to the revision for the tests properly GRRRR!

Congrats to all you passers though!

For you guys doing this have you got degrees first? Or found an employer who will put you through the exams? After deciding a degree in computer forensics wasn't for me I'm seriously considering accounting.

I have a degree but it's pretty well unrelated to accountancy, however it's my employer who is paying for the exams which is just as well because it's not particularly cheap to do. Unfortunately I'm not sure whether the scheme I'm on will be accepting any new applicants at the moment or not, some of the bigger accountancy firms may well be though.

BenjiSayers: don't worry too much about it if it's a first failure, my exam today was a resit but you certainly don't want to make a habit of it, apart from anything else it's expensive and inconvenient.

Aye I know.

It's a poor excuse but i've been out of education for about 3/4 years now so just expected myself to pass for some stupid reason. I know that's not the case now and fully know it gets a lot harder in the future years so really need to knuckle down and take it more seriously. Which I will do as it is something that I do find interesting and challenging just need to stop being lazy.

@Akers: I have no degree or anything I finished college and then started working in IT Support. After doing that for a while I decided I wanted to try something different so I now work in accounts. My employer pays for my course/exams but I'm in a 'who you know situation' as my mother is the FD for the company I work at so it was a lot easier for me to sort out. :)

Another update. Just sat P2 this afternoon. F2 tomorrow which I am not looking forward to. P2 was OK apart from a sneaky 10 mark variance question which I wasn't really expecting!

That's me done E1 (Tuesday) and F1 (today) - I'm relatively happy with E1 although mildly disappointed there wasn't more in the way of questions on the various management writers mentioned in the course, the majority of it seems like it could be answered without having studied it at all (hope I pass now otherwise I'll look really stupid). F1 however was a nasty exam - if I had to design an exam based on everything that was suggested wouldn't come up much then I'd probably have arrived at something close to that one, I'm hoping I've done enough but I think it'll be close.

Failed F3 but passed P3 and E3 as I expected. Will resit F3 in march to then do TOPCIMA in May I hope!!!!

Congratulations on everyone who passed!

had my first 2 exams in November, got results today. 84 in P1 and 78 in F1, pretty happy :) F2 & P2 in May

TOPCIMA is just one big pro forma, easy :p.

Any process costing questions this year? I spent ages studying that and it never came up .

Anyway have fun guys, I'm just kicking back laughing at everyone that still has to take exams :D.
