A spokesperson for Cineworld said: "Due to recent incidents related to screenings of The Lady of Heaven, we have made the decision to cancel upcoming screenings of the film nationwide to ensure the safety of our staff and customers."

Are Cineworld saying that Muslims would be violent towards their staff and customers if they showed a film that they didn't like?

Sounds a bit racist to me.

No it's not racist. Muslims aren't a race.

As an employer one of Cineworld's main concerns is the safety of their staff. If they are seeing a direct correlation between the film screening and danger to their staff then they should remove the film.

Anyway, is this move not pro-Islam? If anything they are supporting Muslims by taking this "blasphemous" film off their screens.

Is it not because it has the potential to inflame Shia and Sunni ideologues. From the limited knowledge I know the incident surrounding Fatima's death is VERY sensitive.
I assume the movie covers it which would in turn cause the outrage.

Anything depiting a fictional figure draws a lot of ire apparently.

Pathetic pandering but this is how we work now. Small percentage of people get offended by something and we pander to them.

Perhaps we need to tell people that if they don't like something, they shouldn't watch/listen to it.

That's not what the unruly mob want in this circumstance. Most of them probably haven't watched it anyway. Because they disagree with it, they don't want you, me or anyone else to watch it - which is a step way too far in my opinion, just the same as banning Life of Brian all those years ago was a step too far.

If tensions between religious groups can be violently inflamed by a poxy film, then they seriously need a word with theirselves

Not as bad as when some councils banned The Life of Brian due to protests from the CoE lot, so it's nothing new.

Didn't they get pretty uppity with Jerry Springer The Musical too?

One of the biggest insults to Muslims is showing an image of Mohammed and this film has got him in it.
A few years ago we saw an attack on a French magazine where staff were murdered for portraying Mohammed so yes it's quite serious and the film makers should have known better.
I for one will wait for it on my usual channels to watch.
