City Fibre

Well like I thought support just like virgin. I phoned them after 30mins on waiting I explained the issue they had no idea the login portal was asking for 2FA verification!! They couldn't reset it there and then because *their* system was crashing so said they would phone back in the next hour this was over 3 hours ago and still no phone call.

Home telecom are aweful. If your out of contract or can get out of it I'd recommend switching to someone like Aquiss, straight through to the MD on ticket or phone. You need to use your own router they don't provide one but it's easy to setup.

Moved to Aquiss few months ago from VM and its awesome so far, had tons of local problems with VM they took months to sort but had no alternative until recently.

Hey,

Looking for some advice. I was with No One internet and have been for a long time, never had any complaints at all, found them superb and reasonable.

Today I receive a bill for £90 from home telecom. I was confused as I while I know home telecom took on No One billing, I usually pay £33 odd. I login to my portal and find out two things: first my contract with No One ran out 24th April, and second, No One don't offer residential services anymore...!

I believe I can move to Home Telecom but the comments here saying they are awful is a concern. What have others done in a similar situation? I want to avoid any down time at all, as I work from home, so ideally looking for something that doesn't require any engineer visit or ONT changes etc.

I also use my own router (ASUS one) with No One, so hoping to just do the same with the new person.

Cheers!

Looking to switch from Virgin soon as I've realised that my new town has CityFibre. But it's a big challenge figuring out who to go with, since there are loads of providers! I like the look of LitFibre and can see others have had pretty good experiences here. But any opinions are welcome.

no one aka Hometelecom

Since Hometelecom have taken over I haven't had one single reply to any of my emails and yes I have sent 3 them and yes to the correct address [email protected] I am finding them very ignorant.

My main issue is I can not sign into my portal anymore because for some strange reason it has set up a 2FA code, one I haven't done. I have spoken to someone about this over a week ago who said he was going to reset it and I am still waiting.

Anyone else finding them to be ignorant or just very slow.

I don't think I'll be renewing with No One either. Getting close to the end of the contract, logged in to check the prices online - last year their portal simply presented me with the options and I could renew immediately at a reasonable price in a few clicks. Now, they want me to call or email them. Combined with the poor reputation of Home Telecome generally, I'll be looking elsewhere I think.

I am coming to end of my contract with Lit Fibre (LIT500 @£27 per month).

Be offered a few deals Lit500 £34 per month for 24 months & Lit1000 £42 per month for 24 months

So started looking round for any other ISP on the CityFibre network over 21 different ISP

I OK with IDNet or Zen for £40 910 Mbps or £ 34 500Mbps I have used both in the past and service has been good with them

People seem to rate Aquiss as well but in the same price range as Zen.

But Aquiss has some spring offers for 12month contract 1GB at £34 per month no router but with static IP included.

I would need to buy a new router is I go with Aquiss.

I also been looking at two cheap options similar to the price I am paying now.

Rocket Fibre £28 per month 1GB which is on the CityFibre network, with a Amazon Eero 6 Router. Trustpilot's score 4.1 but only 273 reviews

I was informed by Rocket Fibre my exchange is on XGS-PON Technology so I can get the new City Fibre speeds up to 2GB which is good news.

Toob is £25 per month 900Mbps for new customers, normally £29 which is on the CityFibre network with a Trustpilot's score are 4.5 6K reviews

Toob, has better support open times 7 days a week, Rocket only 6 days no Sunday.

Both offer Static IP Toob £8 per month, Rocket Fibre IPv4 £4.99, I had no problems with CGNAT with Lit Fibre in the past.

18 months contract for both which is better than the two years on Lit Fibre

Toob Free installation, Rocket Fibre £19.98

I am leading more towards Toob with 7 days a week support.

Any other ISP on CityFibre network I should be looking at.

Thanks

Simon

Aquiss. Read the posts directly above yours. :)
Strangely Acquiss doesn't show on the CityFibre ISP checker, but my address does show as compatible if I go to the Acquiss site and search manually. I'll have a look, ta.

I'm not sure how good that City Fibre checker is. It showed Aquiss for me, when I was checking 6-8 weeks ago, but it also offered me at least one ISP who said I couldn't get their service when I followed the link. I'm also sure that over the last couple of days people have mentioned ISPs that weren't offered to me.

Yeah I've just been through the whole CityFibre list and 2-3 of them say they can't serve us when I go their websites.

Well it took over 16 days for them to sort this out pathetic to be honest I won't be renewing either. When I 1st joined and the only reason I did join was their *no price increase in mid contract* that was advertised on their website. Though only 3 months into the contract they decide to change this and put prices up every April, wish I had taken a screen shot at the time because they told me they haven't offered this for quite some time so lied to me straight away. The change over to Hometelecom put a nail in the coffin for me.

If the prices stay the same with Toob when my contract ends in 2026 I will give them a try.

Think I'm gonna go with Toob, I went through all the other providers and they have some of the best reviews and the lowest price at the moment. Now I have to convince Virgin to let me leave and hopefully installation of Toob goes OK.

Toob are advertising heavily in my area at the moment. The static IP surcharge if £8 / month puts them in line with what I'm paying with No One now though.

I've got a month or so to decide.

Anyone know what the deal is with moving provider during the 14 day cooloff period? Went with 4th Utility because I was in a bit of a rush picking providers during moving, and they were the first to offer the closest install date. Finally got the line installed on the third attempt, but dealing with 4th Utility has been a 20-30 minute wait on hold for every call, sometimes longer. Stuck with it during the install faff because I didn't want to risk resetting the clock and starting again with a new ISP, but now it's in, if I were to cancel and move, how long could I expect something like that to take? IDNet give you the option of 'Working line takeover' and 'Broadband only switch'. Could I feasibly have 4th Utility cancelled an IDNet activated (Or Aquiss, or whoever) within a day? 2? 5? Would these have to be separate steps or would the 'Working line takeover' cover this?

I'd probably ask IDNet or Aquiss, or any of the good providers whose support know what they are talking about
